You can access your wiki by clicking the button in your site's navigation menu.
Note: If you cannot see this link, there are several possible reasons:
- You may not have permission to view the wiki. If you are a site admin, you should setup some basic permissions to get started.
- The wiki might be in the process of upgrading or has been placed into maintenance mode.
- The wiki navigation button might be hidden by a site admin. Some sites do this when they have a separate gateway into the wiki.
- The site may not be using the default system for managing the navigation menu. These sites will have to manually add a wiki link using their custom systems.
The Index
The wiki index, or the Windex as some like to call it, is usually the first page that appears when accessing the wiki.
Ideas: If you can edit the index, it is a good idea to add an introduction to your wiki and some links to important parts of the wiki that you want to highlight.
The index follows the same basic page layout as other wiki pages.
It usually also contains a list of different areas within the wiki. You can click any of these areas to view that part of the wiki and any pages that are in there.
The index cannot have any child pages except for wiki areas. To read and create general wiki content, you will need to visit the appropriate area suited for that content.
Before discussing what these areas are or how they are made, we should first cover the layout of a wiki page, so that you can find your way around easier as we move forward.
