      Breadcrumbs, Subforums/Namespaces, and Categories

Here is my knowledge center thus far...
      http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/showwiki.php

I created a parent forum with each subforum as it's own namespace to breakup the wiki into easily manageable areas. I then created Index pages to act as the subforum homepages. Example...
      http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/sh...=General:Index

The first thing I notice is the breadcrumbs show the word Categories...
Home > Knowledge Center > Categories > General (List) > Index
What causes this? I don't like that. It is confusing and when you click on Categories, it brings up a forum list which has no relevance to Categories.

Now I did assign two articles with categories to see how it would work. Examples...
      http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/sh...-way+connector
      http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/sh...duction+Totals
The first link works however the second does not. Is it because I defined two categories separately?

The goal of this project was to replace the CMS based knowledge center here...
      http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/co...owledge-center

Is this really the best method to replace my CMS by using separate namespaces coupled with categories?

      Suggestions?

      Thanks,
      Frank

In Home > Knowledge Center > Categories > General (List) > Index, "Categories" is one of the parent forums in the chain. It's not something VaultWiki added itself. If you don't want it named that, rename it, or if you don't want it there at all, move General (and any other sub-forums) up to the Knowledge Center level.

I see the category issue in those links. It's not that you defined them separately, that's what you're supposed to do. But I'm also very confused by what's happening. Usually this occurred in past versions because the category wasn't being saved, but you can see on Special:Categories that those categories were created and they contain articles. And since at least one other category you have is working correctly, there isn't anything fundamentally wrong with the category links themselves.

The only thing I can think of is that the encoding between the saved category link and the active category are different. This can happen if you changed VaultWiki > Wiki URL Manager > Edit URL Replacements, or changed Settings > Options > VaultWiki: Server Settings > Replace Space Characters in URLs, since the last time you saved the article that is supposed to be in those categories. If either is the case, you can try editing the affected article and making a small change.

Thanks! That worked on both accounts. The category namespace was assigned to the parent forum instead of it's own.

Is there anything you would do differently before I get to far into my project?

I would personally choose - or _ for spaces in URLs instead of +
The + was the default setting for backwards compatibility with very early versions of VaultWiki. For new installs we recommend changing it; it's very noticeable given the length of some of your namespace titles.

Otherwise it looks like you've got a good handle on things so far.
