      Organizing Categories or Alternative

      I had "category trees" in MediaWiki. For example, it might be like the "top" level would be DESSERTS, with subcategories of CAKES, PIES, ICE CREAM, and so one. And each one of those would be further reduced under PIES to CREAM PIES, FRUIT PIES, CHEESECAKES, ETC.

      Question: In MediaWiki I could create an Internal Link to [[:CategoryESSERTS]] and a editable page would appear with all the DESSERTS in alphabetical order. I could also link externally by using something like [http://[PATH]/CategoryESSERT]

      What would be the best way of setting up a similar set up???

      It should work the same way in VaultWiki. Add pages to categories using
      Code:
      [category]Category Name[/category]
      Add categories to other categories the same way to create your tree.

      I'm sorry, you misunderstood. I was wondering the easiest or best way to locate/handle the starting page, or page that "catches" all of the categories at the "top" of each tree. In the example above, that would be the page where everything ends at DESSERTS. Is the URL the only way to deal with this page that is automatically created.

      I'm sorry, if I misunderstood, I'm still not understanding the question. You can access the category via URL and you can still link to it like so:
      Code:
      [category=Desserts]Desserts[/category]
      If you don't know the "top" category, and your categories weren't botched by a wrong space-character selection during import, you can click category links at the bottom of articles until you find the "top".

      Thanks,

      I think that will get me on the right track. What I eventually want to do is have an 'entry' page that (to follow the example) would have various icons displayed that when clicked on would take you to the DESSERTS page, or the ENTREEs page, or the BEVERAGES page, etc. But since those category pages were never created as an Article, I wasn't sure if the Article= would work. I didin't think of using the Category=

      I wasn't sure if there was a better way, like using some derivation of the Book, with chapters.
