First Post of a Thread as "Wiki"

      Hi,

I've searched a long time to find a suitable solution for my feature wish, and it seems that vault wiki is at the moment the most suitable solution.

I simply just want to give the users the possibility in some forums to choose between creating a "wiki"-thread, where the first post is editable by everyone, or a normal thread. If relevant information gets collected in the wiki-thread, mod's can make it sticky.

At the moment I haven't figured it out if vault wiki can to that, but maybe you can help me. I just have seen that the nearest solution to that point would be to make a subforum in the affected forum (where the wiki-threads should be) and placing the articles with discussion in there. Am I right with this view?

I also didn't digg in the code: if it's not possible: how much expense do you estimate to adopt the code from vault wiki to that functionality?

      Many thanks

Currently it's possible to create a sub-forum and place the articles in there.

However, in VaultWiki 4 (coming December), for many reasons, we are no longer saving articles in forums. At that time, it will be possible to promote threads to article status. Since we are moving in this direction, it's unlikely we will be adding the ability to place normal threads and wiki threads in the same forum.

      Many Thanks pegasus,

I didn't asked about the expense because I tought it's your job to adopt that functionality, more because I would do it myself :-)

So with VaultWiki4 it becomes more a stand alone wiki with excellent integration to some board? What will happen to the old forum-wiki-articles after the update?

      cheers,

Old VaultWiki 3 forum-wiki-articles will be moved automatically by the upgrade process.
