      Upgrade problem

I have installed all sorts of mods for VBulletin but I am stymied by VaultWiki. Honestly I find the directions obscure even there. Of course you hardly give any. Anyway

      You provide an upload folder.

You state "Essentially, you will be transferring the files contained in the "upload" folder on your computer to the folder on your web server that contains your vBulletin installation."

What I did was took each of the folders in the upload folder and the files and uploaded them one by one into my forums package - titled Forums.

      Was this correct?

My upgrade install script will not run - it says no URL found. Yet I go to Forums folder and there it is -Vault -install - install.php

What is the FULL error message you see when you run vault/install/install.php?
What is the FULL URL of your forum home page?
What is the FULL URL of the install script as you are entering it?

On some servers capitalization counts, so make sure your forum path is capitalized correctly in the URL.
Make sure that you don't have double forward slashes like domain/forums//vault/install/install.php

My host created a Forums folder and an http docs folder that I am supposed to drop mods into. I did that - no change.

It looks like the /vault folder is present on the site, but that the /vault/install folder is not. In fact, some snooping around reveals that many other necessary VaultWiki files and folders are not in /vault. It seems that the files there are pre-3.0.0 RC 3, when we changed the directory structure (and made mapping namespace functionality easier).

This is probably due to the way the .forums. sub-domain has been configured, it must be mapped to another directory that you're not expecting. Note also that your forums are still running vBulletin 4.0.2. If you think you've upgraded beyond this in the past 6 months, then it's very possible that this is the case. I would ask your host again what folder you need to upload to in order for the files to be in the "forums" sub-domain.
