Confused about the future of Vauktwiki

I'm using Vaultwiki since the early come out (?) but the infos about Vaultwiki 3.1 are really confusing. The talk is about everything gets a way on it's own. What about the integration in vBulletin? So the question for me is: Why should I work with Vaultwiki in the future when there is a integration available for Mediawiki with a free bridge (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=247279)?
I liked the integration in vBulletin and the absolute great support for this Addon. So it would be very nice to get some infos where the differences will be to Mediawiki+vBulletin-bridge.

3.1 will change the location certain data is saved in order to achieve a number of things:

• Better performance
• More intuitive admin interfaces
• Improved functionality of certain article types (like Images)
• Tighter integration in certain areas (most notably search)

These changes will also make it easier for us to develop versions for other forum software, like IPB and XenForo - many areas of VaultWiki need to be rewritten so that other forum software would be able to run the code without problems. If in the future, we want to make VaultWiki stand-alone, then that would be easier too, but that is not something we're planning on doing at this time, because it doesn't really fall under the original mission of VaultWiki.

VaultWiki for vBulletin (or IPB, or XenForo) will continue to be a native wiki that installs as a forum add-on: with the same user-base, styles, and blending with other core forum features.

But one point: The Wiki-BB-code will still work outside the Wiki-area in the future?

Yes, you will still be able to link to wiki pages using BB-Codes. I think we will be changing the way some BB-Codes work in 3.1, but any pre-3.1 BB-Codes will still function as expected.

When can we expect 3.1 ? There are a couple of items (specifically the updated forumindex bbcode) that I am eagerly waiting for.

3.1 will not be released until after XenForo is released, and we don't know when that will be.

As for any bugs in the tracker, we will be fixing many of those before 3.1. Certain feature requests may or may not be included before 3.1. The 3.1 milestone in the tracker typically refers to items that will be completed before 3.1 gold, so this can be 3.0.4 or it can be 3.1.0 RC 17.
