      Creating Random Entries

Is it possible to use the wiki parser extensions to create Random Entries for the Main Page of my wiki?

I see it on lots of wikis, but don't know where to start to do it on VaultWiki, if it's possible atm.

Thanks for the excellent work... been less able to spend time on the wiki lately, but want to rectify that now

Could you link an example of what you mean?

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

Note the Today's Featured Article. Also the Did You Know sections. All pick random or recent articles.

Hm. That seems like a custom mod on Wikipedia, it might be available on mediawiki.org as an extension. There is no function like this built-in VaultWiki, where it creates CMS-ish blocks of random or recent articles.

However, you can use the Special:Randompage to visit a random article. And you can go to Special:Newpages for articles that were created recently.

Thanks Pegasus. I assume it's possible to create an 'extension' that would allow a random page... and then link it by template?

If you're a coder, I'm sure you can figure it out. You would have to create a new BB-Code or extend the Parser Extensions class with a new 'extension'.
