      Namespaces, confused

      Hi,

I'm stuck already, which is unusual for me so I apologise.

Setting up namespaces, I've set up the 5 required namespaces and set them to wiki with no parent forum. However they all display at the bottom of my forum page despite being set to none in 'display in forum'. Surely the 'nuts n bolts' namespaces shouldn't be displaying?

I think I've probably not done it right and am confused about doing it properly!

Also, the 'rebuild link cache' button under wiki article tools gives me a database error:
      Code:
      MySQL Error : Table 'spods_dpbeta.vb_pt_issuenote' doesn't exist
      Things just don't seem right

      Site is at: http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk

You also want the forum Display Order to be 0. The database error is a bug in RC3 that was reported a bit ago and is fixed in the next (stable) release. You can get by without rebuilding the "Link Cache" until then, as long as you have built the "Article List."

I have some problems with the namespaces too.
I did all as mentioned in the installation manual, but only a few namespaces will be marked as namespaces in the forum homepage. Book, Special and Templates are not marked with a "namespace" in the title.

Two other problems is an error in the rebuild link:
      Code:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function special_update_used_links() in .../test.hobbyschneiderin.org/htdocs/portal/vault/special_plugins_bbcode.php on line 397
and that I can't figure how to create articles ...
Your manuals are a bit thin on that point.

Thanks for all the help I will get - at least I hope I will get some.

book, special and template are not supposed to be public namespaces, they should be hidden using the 'display order 0' trick. At least that's the way I understand it. I'm not sure why you would want those namespaces to be public.

You can start new articles simply by clicking on the 'new thread' link in the namespace/forum.

The forums are not prefixed with "Namespace" in the forum bits if you have set "Forum Display Name," because the display name overrides the default title. As for the rest, you should report bugs in the appropriate forum area so they can be tracked properly.

I am not sure, if I want it.
I think I didn't get the point of the namespaces, so I would very much like to learn more about it, but I don't know where to start.

As an example, where under normal circumstances can I create articles?
It's a simple thing like that, that block my way.

You can start new articles simply by clicking on the 'new thread' link in the namespace/forum.
Please tell me, what is the namespace/forum?
Do I have to create this after I created the namespaces and in one of that I have to create another forum?

      Thanks, got that point.

Will do that, as soon as I think, that I do understand the basics of your wiki.
At the moment I am quite sure, I make some mistakes and I don't like making bug reports, that I don't understand myself.

Thanks for the fast help to both of you.

If I select the option to have a namespace appear in a certain forum, it appears twice -- as a separate forum and as part of the named forum. Is there any way around this?

Yes, you need to set the display order to 0, this will remove it as the seperate forum, then you can use the 'display in forum' option to determine where it show up in your forum list.
