Because VaultWiki.org gathers certain types of information about our users, we feel you should fully understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather and how we use it.

VaultWiki.org gathers two types of information about users:
Information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions. These are voluntary submissions to receive our electronic newsletters; to participate in our message boards or forums; to email a friend; to report bugs, request features, and receive support; and through participation in polls and surveys.
Information VaultWiki.org gathers through aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our sites. This information allows us to better tailor our content to customers' needs and to help our advertising staff better understand the demographics of our audience. Because VaultWiki.org derives a large portion of its revenue from sponsorships, advertisement and / or donations, providing such aggregated demographic data is essential to keeping our service free to users. Except where required by law or court order, VaultWiki.org does not divulge any identifying information about an individual user to a third party.
VaultWiki.org Gathers User Information In The Following Processes:
Optional Voluntary Information
We offer the following free services, which require some type of voluntary submission of personal information by users:
Electronic newsletters (Dispatches)
VaultWiki.org gathers the email addresses of users at registration. We offer several types of free electronic newsletters to these users. These newsletters can be divided into two types: subscriptions and notifications.
When a user finds some content on VaultWiki.org interesting, the user may opt-in to a subscription newsletter, which will alert the user via email whenever there are updates to that content. Users may remove themselves from subscriptions by following the links provided in every subscription-based email message, which points users to the subscription management page.
The user may opt-in to notification emails when their account receives new private messages. These notifications are sent automatically by VaultWiki.org and are not handled by any third-party service. If you already receive such a notification and you wish to disable it, please follow the instructions provided in the bottom of the email you have received.
Some products, services, and downloadable content on VaultWiki.org come bundled with notification services, if the user opts-in to the bundled notifications. These notifications typically alert users of product updates, security issues, and other related information. These notifications are sent by our own web site staff and are not handled by any third-party service. Each one of these bundled notifications can be removed via the settings for that bundle in the Members tab on the web site, or by replying to the notification email as follows:
Include a copy of the original notification in the body of the email.
Include the word "UNSUBSCRIBE" in the subject of the email.
Notification settings are tied to specific bundles and purchases. If the user has multiple bundles, changing notification settings for one will not affect other bundles. If the user has multiple bundles with notifications enabled and the user no longer wishes to receive notifications for any of them, the user must unsubscribe from each one individually.
Message boards/forums
Users of the site's Message Boards and Forums must register separately for these services (both are free of charge) in order to post messages, although they needn't register to visit the site. During registration the user is required to supply a username, password, and email address.
Anti-SPAM and Human Verification
During registration, VaultWiki.org uses the following anti-SPAM services in order to protect ourselves from unwanted traffic and messages:
stopforumspam.com
google.com/recaptcha
At the time of registration, VaultWiki.org may share the user's current IP address, email address, and requested username with the automated service at stopforumspam.com to verify that the user is not currently blacklisted from other web sites. VaultWiki.org may reject the user's registration based on the results of this interaction. If the user's registration is accepted, but we determine that the account has been used for SPAM, VaultWiki.org reserves the right to submit the user's known IP addresses, email address, and username with stopforumspam.com for inclusion in their blacklist database. You should review stopforumspam.com's Privacy Policy to learn how they might use this information (http://stopforumspam.com/privacy.
For some interactions on the web site, such as guest posting, guest searches, contact forms, registration, and a user's first few messages, VaultWiki.org may embed a simple puzzle or game to verify that the user is a human being. This service is provided to VaultWiki.org by Google's reCAPTCHA service. During fulfillment of this service, google.com/recaptcha has access to the user's current IP address, web site location, puzzle responses, and certain device information. You should review reCAPTCHA's Privacy Policy to learn how they might use this information (https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/).
Social Media Sharing
VaultWiki.org allows users to share web site content on popular social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter. These functions are disabled by default, but a user can activate them on-demand by simply clicking on the relevant button. By clicking on the button, the user exposes his/her current IP address, web site location, and certain device information to the social media service. If the user is logged into the service, or by completing a sharing activity, the social media service is able to correlate this information with your social media account. You should review the service's own Privacy Policy to learn how this information might be used.
Polling
We may offer interactive polls to users so they can easily share their opinions with other users and see what our audience thinks about important issues. Opinions or other responses to polls are aggregated and are not identifiable to any particular user. VaultWiki.org may use a system to "tag" users after they have voted, so they can vote only once on a particular question. This tag is not public and does not correlate to a specific response for that question.
Surveys
VaultWiki.org may occasionally conduct user surveys to better target our content to our audience. We sometimes share the aggregated demographic information in these surveys with our sponsors, advertisers and partners. We never share any of this information about specific individuals with any third party.
Product Orders
In order to submit an order for a product, users must register for the site's Message Board and Forums services (both are free of charge). During registration the user is required to create a username and password, and to supply an email address, and to accept the terms of this policy.
We offer a number of products for users to purchase. VaultWiki.org uses a third-party payment provider of the user's choosing (the "Payment Processor") to process the user's payment. The product's name, cost, quantity ordered, and desired options (such as color) will be shared with the Payment Processor.
Any additional personal information which you provide on a Payment Processor-hosted payment page becomes available to the Payment Processor. You should review the Payment Processor's Privacy Policy to learn how that information may be used:
The following are a list of Payment Processors that we may allow users to choose from and links to their respective privacy policies:
Payment Processors may provide VaultWiki.org with a unique identifier for a transaction which can be used by VaultWiki.org to associate the transaction with your account. During the course of confirming and fulfilling a transaction, and performing accounting duties, VaultWiki.org may access certain personal data held by the Payment Processor, including:
Purchaser's Real Name
Purchaser's mailing address
Purchaser's email address
These items may be duplicated in encrypted, password-protected, accounting records which are stored offline. They are not duplicated on the VaultWiki.org web site.
For items that must be delivered to a physical mailing address, VaultWiki.org may need to share the purchased item's details, as well as certain personal information with the manufacturer and/or the shipping company in order to complete the transaction, such as:
Recipient's Real Name
Recipient's mailing address
VaultWiki.org tracks when users download digital content and correlates the information to the user's account. This allows us to confirm fulfillment of purchases, and to maintain evidence of License Agreement adherence or otherwise. This information may be used in payment and/or legal disputes.
VaultWiki.org may place unique identifiers in digital content that correlates information to the downloading user's account, such as download time, licensed party, and license number. This information is placed in such a way that it is not visible to the general public, as long as the download is used for its intended purpose. The inclusion of this information helps deter digital piracy by providing an audit trail.
Ticket Support
VaultWiki.org provides a Ticket service which allows customers to request that an employee of VaultWiki Team perform maintenance or other services on the customer's web site.
At the time of request, VaultWiki.org collects the following information, which are used by the employee to perform the requested service:
Customer's Web Site Address
Temporary Username and Password for Customer's Web Site
Customer's FTP Address, or address for a similar access point
Temporary Username and Password for Customer's FTP service
Other details which the customer may optionally provide to provide context for the request
This information is stored at VaultWiki.org in an encrypted format, and once submitted, can only be decrypted by the VaultWiki Team employee assigned to that Ticket.
Once a VaultWiki Team employee responds to a Ticket, it will be closed, unless otherwise requested by the customer. At the time of closing, copies of the encrypted data that were collected for this purpose are destroyed.
If a Ticket is not closed within 90 days, it will automatically be closed, unless otherwise requested by the customer.
After a Ticket is closed, it is the customer's responsibility to change or revoke any temporary access credentials that were provided in the Ticket.
Children
Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental consent.
Usage tracking
VaultWiki.org tracks user traffic patterns throughout all of our sites. VaultWiki.org does break down overall usage statistics according to a user's domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user's browser).
VaultWiki.org sometimes tracks and catalogs the search terms that users enter in our Search function, but this tracking is never associated with individual users.
We use tracking information to determine which areas of our sites users like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. This helps us continue to build a better service for you.
Cookies
We may place a text file called a "cookie" in the browser files of your computer. The cookie itself does not contain Personal Information, unless you have modified the cookie directly. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites.
VaultWiki.org uses cookies for the following purposes:
to track user traffic patterns (as described above).
to maintain persistent login sessions, so that a user can access his/her own account.
to better track ad impressions, demographics, click rates, and conversion rates. This information is used by VaultWiki.org internally to improve our own advertising campaigns and marketing techniques.
You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. If you've set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, you will receive the warning message with each cookie. You do not need to have cookies turned on to use this site. However, you do need cookies to participate actively in message boards, forums, polling, surveys, to access digital goods that you have purchased, and to receive technical support.
To read more about cookies, including specific examples of cookies our site uses, see our Cookie Policy.
Use of Information
VaultWiki.org uses any information voluntarily given by our users to enhance their experience on our web site, whether to provide interactive or personalized elements on the site or to better prepare future content based on the interests of our users.
As stated above, we use information that users voluntarily provide in order to send out electronic newsletters and to enable users to purchase products or to participate in polls, surveys, message boards, forums, and receive technical support. We send out newsletters to subscribers on a regular schedule (depending on the newsletter), and occasionally send out special editions when we think subscribers might be particularly interested in something we are doing. VaultWiki.org never shares newsletter mailing lists with any third parties, including advertisers, sponsors, or partners.
When we use tracking information to determine which areas of our sites users like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. We do not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps us continue to build a better service for you. We track search terms entered in Search function as one of many measures of what interests our users. But we don't track which terms a particular user enters.
VaultWiki.org creates aggregate reports on user demographics and traffic patterns for advertisers, sponsors, and partners. This allows our advertising and marketing staff to advertise and brand our products more effectively. Because we don't track the usage patterns of individual users, an advertiser or sponsor will never know that a specific user clicked their ad. We will not disclose any information about any individual user except to comply with applicable law or valid legal process or to protect the personal safety of our users or the public.
Sharing of the Information
VaultWiki.org uses the above-described information to tailor our content to suit your needs and help us better understand our audience's demographics. This is essential to keeping our service free. If the user is not opting to purchase any product, we will not share information about individual users with any third party, except to comply with applicable law or valid legal process or to protect the personal safety of our users or the public.
If the user is opting to purchase a product, we may share the user's mailing address with the manufacturer and/or the shipping company as needed to complete the transaction.
If the user has purchased a product and the related transaction is disputed, we may share the user's personal information related to that transaction with third-party dispute mediators in order to resolve the dispute. For example, if a payment processed by PayPal is disputed by the customer, PayPal opens a "case" to investigate the claim; we may provide information to the personnel reviewing the case to prove order fulfillment and to determine whether fraud occurred.
If VaultWiki.org employs a third-party contractor to provide services on our web site, such as maintenance tasks, some of your information may be visible to the contractor, depending on the scope of their work. However, VaultWiki.org does not allow any contractor to make copies or use such information in any way that connects that information to you without your express consent.
Security
VaultWiki.org operates secure data networks protected by industry standard firewall and password protection systems. Our security and privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary and only authorized individuals have access to the information provided by our customers.
Opt-Out Policy
We give users options wherever necessary and practical. Such choices include:
Opting not to register to receive our electronic newsletters.
Opting not to participate in certain interactive areas, which completely alleviates the need to gather any personally identifiable information from our users.
Your Rights
You have a right to access the personal data we hold about you or obtain a copy of it. To do so, please contact us. If you believe that the information we hold for you is incomplete or inaccurate, you may contact us to ask us to complete or correct that information.
You also have the right to request the erasure of your personal data (the "Erasure"). Please contact us if you would like us to remove any of your personal data. Beware that erasure of certain personal data may result in some or all of your account becoming non-functional.
While we consider each case individually, we will typically refuse the erasure of certain data:
IP addresses which may have been used by your account in the past may be retained in log files and in connection with any content already posted by that account. Monitoring historical IP address activity helps us to fight SPAM and security threats which target our services.
Copies of personal data contained in our accounting records may continue to be retained for 6 years, in order to comply with financial and/or tax regulations.
Identifying information used to help us keep records of your data erasure requests, so that we can prove that the Erasure has been fulfilled, may be retained indefinitely.
Copies of any personal data that was erased, occurring in offline backups created prior to the Erasure, may be retained indefinitely to prevent damaging the integrity of the backup data; however, the Erasure will be honored and re-applied at any time that such backup data would be restored to a live, public environment.
Your Consent
By using this site, you consent to the collection and use of this information by VaultWiki.org. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it. If you are an existing user, we may request that you re-accept the terms of this policy from time to time.
This site uses cookies to help personalize content, to tailor your experience, and to keep you logged in if you register.
By continuing to use this site, you are consenting to our use of cookies.
