      Area names autolink
      All our area names like main, development, tutorial, etc. generate autolinks.

      The area names we noticed quickly were added to the ignore list were added to the autolink ignore list but that does not seem like a reasonable solution. I do not know why they would link in the first place.

      In looking at some of our templates I found that autolinks had been when the header argument was used in a table template. That makes the behavior a real problem for me.

      We are having difficulties with tables anyway, so we would like the syntax to be consistent and stable while we learn the new stuff.

      You will have to give an example of the table/autolink conflict you're referring to. I'm having a hard time imagining it, and as there are a number of different TABLE BB-Codes, I'm not sure how to test it.

      Here is a link that demonstrates the problem. To show the behavior, you need to remove the entries from the autolink ignore list and reparse the post with a dummy edit.

      http://mb.nawcc.org/showthread.php?1...utolink-errors

      The table problem is just incidental because the term header is an argument in tables. If not protected it becomes an autolink and if in a template, the autolink tag becomes visible.

      I think this problem may have arisen when you fixed our autolinking during the upgrade. i.e. we may not have a standard script.

      It is designed behavior for any page, including area pages, to be used for autolinks, unless its title is specifically added to the ignore list.

      If some terms are used as an argument in the body of a BB-Code tag, I'm afraid there are only a few ways to prevent this:
      - Add the terms to the auto-link ignore list manually, for custom BB-Codes.
      - Add the terms to the auto-link ignore list automatically, for first-party or VaultWiki BB-Codes (really only applies to GALLERY, TABLE, SPAN, DIV, TOC). I'm not familiar with a third-party TABLE that uses arguments in this manner, and header is not an argument in VaultWiki's TABLEs.
      - Add the BB-Code itself to the internal ignore list so no autolinks occur on text inside the tag.

      I can confirm the second issue as a bug, and will leave this issue open until it is resolved. If you want to have the option to exclude types of pages, like areas or templates, from autolinks, then please make a feature request.

      Implemented, I think the best solution would be similar to this: https://www.vaultwiki.org/issues/3866/
      Like you want to exclude areas from autolinks, some users want to exclude attachments from search results, but having the choice to exclude multiple types -- areas or attachments or synonyms is even more useful.

      In vw3 we only had autolinking for main or wiki and main itself was not autolinked nor was our alias Encyclopedia.

      I thought we were using your table code but it has been over 5 years since I created those templates using the table code, so I may misremember.

      Here are a couple of templates that we use to build tables of data about watches.

      [table] width="{{{wide|50%}}}" header border="1" style="border-collapse:collapse;"
      !Begin
      !End
      !Count
      !Comment

      =========================================
      |-
      |align="right"|{{{b}}}
      |align="right"|{{{e}}}
      |align="right"|{{{c}}}
      |{{{cmt|}}}

      Indeed that's the VaultWiki TABLE code, but "header" is not a valid option anyway.

      I was actually only able to reproduce this with the GALLERY tag. From what I could tell, TABLE, SPAN, and DIV were unable to have their attributes auto-linked, since all BB-Codes and HTML are automatically removed from the attributes prior to validating their names and using them. I was not able to duplicate the issue with a page named Width and a TABLE using the width attribute. It is possible this bit of code was first added after you opened this report, but it seems older than that.

      Anyway, I'm marking this as fixed since tags are now also removed from GALLERY tag attributes.
