      Documentation

Is there any way to add the documentation to the actual build so that I don't have to refer 18400+ members to your site to get started?

I'm a paying customer by the way and not using Lite.

Agreed. We need to include all of the Documentation in the vBulletin FAQ and the option to be pre-installed in the wiki. The latter will be much easier to do in VaultWiki 4 (since we can dump all the books, pages, templates, and attachments in one Help area without creating a bunch of namespaces), but it should be done via prompt during Install/Upgrade.

will the documentation also be more complete, and have more advanced examples?
I find it sometimes hard to find out how things are working, and i work with the wiki 10+hrs a day currently, can you imagine casual users that dont know anything

The only thing I know of that's undocumented is the Language system, but yes that would be included when we rewrite the docs. Also, it should be easier to do most things that might require "advanced examples" (as with posting/using images), but could you explain maybe a part of the documentation or a use case that you think needs this?

well i am writing this on top of my head now, dont have a full list of things written down, but ill keep posting to this thread when something pops up

      - can be improved:
      • there is no link tothe usage BBcode page in the User Manual, it drove me crazy to look for that each time. i remembered it was somethign with bb code and list, but sometimes to me quite long to find. Should be under editing-syntax.. (crap cant find it again)
ah yes, thats how i find it was through search, then click on this post "Wrong anchor link in 'List of Wiki Codes' page" and there i found some hints on how to get there.
      • WikiCodeList layout, for example most my editors were confused about namespaces and their bbcode, took them quite a while to figure out how to use them. In mediawiki they used {{ }} for ALL links, and now have to know in what namespace they are and where they are linking to. So perhaps a better introduction to namespaces
      • Advanced Examples - with that i mean to show all the possible options of a certain BBcode-tag. For example TABLE, i accidently discovered while broswing the php code that table DOES have more options.. I asumed not, since converted tables were malfunctioning. But the wikicodelist doesnt mention them. ie. table caption, TH etc.. and i noticed my editors werent using them as well..
      • the IF tag.. i think that one gave me the most headaches. what is posible and what is not. How would i solve for example: if elseif else (i still havnt figured that out) - just some practical comon advanced examples
      • better explanation how how to use template variables, for example: what is the difference between {{{1|}}} and {{{1}}}, what does {{{1|value|}}} mean?
      • Switch support - in https://www.vaultwiki.org/issues/2486/ you mentioned you added #switch, i have asked you for a working example, but no response. I have been unable to figure out how it exactly works!

anyhow i think you got what i mean.
take a look at: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Variables these are only the VAR's , but besides an explanation of each VAR, there is also a usage example

oh while browsing my old help files on birthright.net, i noticed my help pages arent converted like they should have!
I used to have an extensive help section
      http://www.birthright.net/forums/sho...=Help:Contents
      but some example pages are
      http://www.birthright.net/forums/sho...=Help:Template
      http://www.birthright.net/forums/sho...=Help:Variable

remember.. users are users.. not software engineers

I would like to see the manual published on this site used as the default wiki upon installation. It would help clear up some of the confusion regarding forum/namespace structure for newer users.
