Option to use Forum threads for discussion

Just take a look at my new content page: /find-new/
I dont know how to add an image to this bug tracker.
As you see the new posts page has a wall of tabs that basically no one will click. 1 out of the 13 tabs lead to new wiki comments / discussions. No one will click it.

The main benefit of VW is better forum integration than mediawiki. The move of discussions / comments to a different system is not good for integration and participation. vbulletin blogs and vbulletin social groups are perfect examples of that. If its not integrated into the new post function then addons will not be used as much.

This is why I am suggesting an option to use stock forum discussion threads instead of VW discussions. I know its a rigorous request, but it has a lot of benefits.

Interesting idea, maybe something to consider for XF 2.0?

I must admit that I have wiki discussions disabled via permissions to avoid an awkward divide of conversation in forum threads and wiki pages. I wouldn't mind a way to 'assign' an existing forum thread as the discussion spot for a specific wiki page too.

We can try to find a way to merge the results of wiki comments to the New Posts tab. Duplicate here: https://www.vaultwiki.org/issues/3355/
There is also a request already to add forum threads as related discussions (which would include the ability to spin-off a new related forum thread): https://www.vaultwiki.org/issues/4696/

Both would be easier to implement and don't result in mixing different content-types at the data level.

Since migrating to xenforo a lot of our forum content has been moved to other content types. Its very obvious that discussions in non-forum go dead unless rigorous solutions are applied. vbulletin social groups and blog in vb3 and vb4 have the same issue. It its not in new posts and /recent-activity/ then it may as well be turned off. No one will use it.

Duplicating content doesn't sound like a pretty solution and may lead to SEO problems.

There is another problem as well that is not visible with vbulletin, but becomes apparent with mobile friendly platforms like xenforo. Mobile users post anything anywhere if there is any room for confusion. This is not a small factor but an hourly occurrence. They will certainly use wiki discussions to post forum content. Which then has to be moved to forum threads. I am not sure this is even possible.
