Yesterday, inspired by a recent patch of XenForo's software, our developers investigated the possibility of similar issues that might exist in VaultWiki itself.

We found what we are calling Vulnerabilidad de Las Plagas, a Server-Side Request Forgery vulnerability that affects all versions of VaultWiki since 4.0.1, except VaultWiki Lite.

This is a serious vulnerability that could allow attackers to bypass your server's firewall, and depending on your server's configuration, perform any number of malicious tasks, including but not limited to:
      • Making changes to background services
      • Remote code execution
      • Enrolling your server in a botnet

We have published the following Patch Level releases to resolve this issue:
      • 4.0.13 Patch Level 1
      • 4.0.12 Patch Level 2
      • 4.0.11 Patch Level 2
      • 4.0.10 Patch Level 3
      • 4.0.9 Patch Level 3
      • 4.0.8 Patch Level 5
      • 4.0.7 Patch Level 6
      • 4.0.6 Patch Level 9

We strongly recommend that all users running VaultWiki 4.0.1 or higher in a production environment update to a patched release as soon as possible.

As of August 9, 2016, VaultWiki 4.0.13 is now available. This version includes over 50 bug fixes and a handful performance improvements.

      Users Browsing the Wiki

VaultWiki 4.0.13 includes an option to keep track of what users are reading each wiki page and to display that information at the bottom of the related page. vBulletin users will find this function similar to the list of users browsing individual forums or threads.

This feature is available in both vBulletin and XenForo versions of VaultWiki. The option now appears in Options > VaultWiki: Miscellaneous > Show Users Browsing Wiki.

      Release Notes

The current release is VaultWiki 4.0.13, which should be usable on vBulletin-based and XenForo-based production sites.

On June 14, 2016, VaultWiki 4.0.12 was released. This version contains over 45 bug fixes and improvements, including a handful of widely-requested style tweaks.

      Style Improvements

In VaultWiki 4.0.12, we have attempted to make VaultWiki's style integration more seamless than ever. Lists of wiki areas, wiki pages, discussions, and edits have been reworked to resemble the appearance of regular forum and thread lists more precisely than earlier versions. As with every release, we have posted a list of the style templates that have been updated.

      Clearer Permissions Inheritance

With VaultWiki 4.0.12, administrators now have more insight into what a user's permissions look like when editing custom permissions sets or user masks. The "Not Set" option for each permission now includes a description of what value will be inherited and where it will be inherited from. This allows administrators both to avoid making redundant sets and to figure out where undesired permissions are coming from, reducing headaches and time spent on the task.

      Release Notes

The current release is VaultWiki 4.0.12, which should be usable on vBulletin-based and XenForo-based production sites.

On May 12, 2016, VaultWiki 4.0.11 was released. This version contains over 65 bug fixes.

      New WIDGET Settings

VaultWiki 4.0.11 offers administrators greater control over the output of the WIDGET tag, providing settings for the maximum allowed WIDGET tags per post and the maximum size of the result set of each WIDGET. These new options are available when editing the WIDGET BB-Code via your forum software's BB-Code Manager.

      Historical Counters and More

This release also adds some minor improvements to wiki history functions. Starting with 4.0.11, the wiki tracks the number of views a page receives between each edit, as well as the number of downloads an attachment receives between each file edit. These statistics now appear on the History tab.

Prior to 4.0.11, it was only possible to download the current version of a wiki attachment. Historical file versions can now be downloaded via the History tab.

      Release Notes

The current release is VaultWiki 4.0.11, which should be usable on vBulletin-based and XenForo-based production sites.

Earlier today, our developers stumbled upon a security vulnerability while debugging other issues.

The Contrastive Vulnerability is an HTML/Javascript injection vulnerability that affects all versions of VaultWiki since 4.0.0 Beta 2 on XenForo only. vBulletin-based installations are not affected by this issue.

We have published the following Patch Level releases to resolve this issue:
      • 4.0.10 Patch Level 1
      • 4.0.9 Patch Level 1
      • 4.0.8 Patch Level 3
      • 4.0.7 Patch Level 4
      • 4.0.6 Patch Level 7
      • 4.0.5 Patch Level 7
      • 4.0.4 Patch Level 7

We highly recommend that all users running any version of VaultWiki for XenForo in a production environment update to a patched release as soon as possible.

On April 1, 2016, we released VaultWiki 4.0.10. This version contains about 50 bug fixes, as well as some notable changes and features.

      Tiled Area Contents

VaultWiki 4.0.10 makes it possible to change the style of items on an area's List tab, the tab that lists the contents of that area. In addition to the standard directory list of its contents, wiki administrators can opt for a "tiled" display. By default, this will show contents as square tiles that place emphasis on the item's selected icon image (if any) and its title. Thus, the tiled view will work best for wikis that make heavy use of custom icons or for areas that contain large numbers of image attachments.

Inline Moderation for Previews of the List Tab

Some pages, such as areas, that can contain other pages have a tab that lists the contents of that wiki node. Taking an area as an example, it was possible to show a preview of that full list on the area's main view, but it was necessary to visit the full list in order for moderators to make changes to content that appeared on the list.

This is no longer the case. As of 4.0.10, the previewed list also includes moderator controls for the previewed items.

      Limit Attachment Disk Usage

With 4.0.10, you can now limit the amount of disk space the wiki uses for attachment files. You can use this setting to prevent wiki attachments from filling up your disk partition. A full partition can impact site performance and prevent other site features from functioning correctly.

      Custom Icon Sizing

Forum administrators can now use Style Properties to customize the sizes of wiki-related icons without directly modifying CSS stylesheets.

      Shortcuts for Creation

Wiki users will also notice that shortcut links to create new pages or upload files have been added to the Wiki tab's sub-navigation. With this change, it is no longer necessary to manually navigate to a specific area or scroll down the page in order to create content.

      XenForo Statistics

XenForo admins will notice that wiki-related statistics now appear in the tools for monthly, weekly, and daily forum statistics.

      Release Notes

The current release is VaultWiki 4.0.10, which should be usable on vBulletin-based and XenForo-based production sites.

As of March 29, 2016, VaultWiki.org now accepts payments for licenses and other services using the electronic currency BitCoin.

Whether BitCoin is more convenient for you, or if you don't use PayPal because you disagree with some of their business decisions, you now have another payment option for VaultWiki products and services.

Due to the lower costs of processing BitCoin transactions over credit cards and other methods, as long as this trend continues, we will pass this savings on to our customers. We are currently offering an automatic 1% discount on all full-price purchases paid using BitCoin.

VaultWiki processes BitCoin transactions through a third-party API and service at CoinBase.com; however, you do not need a CoinBase account in order to pay using BitCoin. Each transaction has a unique wallet address, so you can send the requested amount directly from your wallet or client of choice.

Keep in mind that due to the volatility of the BitCoin marketplace, each address and/or quoted payment amount is only valid for a period of 15 minutes. If you submit a payment amount after the quote has expired, that transaction may not be accepted. If this happens, please contact a staff member for assistance.
