VaultWiki 4 Alpha 3 has now been released. Thanks to the help of users who were brave enough to become early adopters, we feel this version is really starting to come together. A significant number of showstopper issues have been identified and addressed. Alpha 3 is representative of the fruits of these endeavors.

Please note that Alpha 3, like those before it, is only compatible with vBulletin 4.1.4 and higher.

      Upgrading

For users upgrading from Alpha 1 or 2, one of the directives in vault/config.php has been changed. You will need to replace this file with the appropriate new file, or you must modify your existing config file. Find the following:
      Code:
      'DEFAULT_SCRIPT'
      and replace it with:
      Code:
      'VW_DEFAULT_SCRIPT'

      Changes

      In this Alpha, you'll notice:
      • Better stability on servers with early versions of MySQL 5
      • Better stability editing individual sections of a page
      • Better stability of all variants of the BB-Code parser
      • Better stability when deleting wiki data
      • Fixed over 20 missing graphics
      • Other minor enhancements and bug fixes

Since this is still an Alpha release, we still do not recommend installing VaultWiki 4 Alpha 3 on production sites at this time.

Graphics Developer Kit and Other Download Options

With the release of Alpha 3, we have also made significant changes to the download form in the Members area.

We have moved the Graphics Developer Kits (GDKs) for VaultWiki 3 from our VaultWiki Modifications forums and made them available via the VaultWiki download form. The GDK for VaultWiki 4 is available there as well.

When downloading VaultWiki from now on, the Javascript files in the package will be minified by default. You can use the new options to download the Uncompressed Javascript if you need it for some reason.

If you would like to speed up the download from our site and the upload to your own, you can now also opt to download the package without any image files. This option is recommended mainly for in-place replacements of your files of the same version, or if you have checked the release details and there is no mention of new images.

Is deleting items still an issue?

As of this morning, it should be possible to delete more items than was possible in Alpha 2. The release notes promise better stability, but specifically we are referring to more inifinite loops and recursions that were happening when deleting some data-types that kept going until server lock-up.

Until you've done a few successful deletes, you should probably still pay attention to the IDs of things you want to delete in case it doesn't work through the UI. We don't have any problems deleting things here anymore, but we are already testing on Alpha 4.

Great to hear. What should be done with ghost data? Will it go away within the next few updates?

Ghost data unfortunately will stay there unless it is removed manually. Contact me via PM if you need help doing this.
