How do I display a larger image on the page and on the area listing?

I have an area 'People'. I have added a photo of the person as the page icon for each page.
I used a link to a XFMG Entry.
This displays as a very small icon on the area and in the page header. (next to title)

You can tweak icon sizes globally using Style Properties, under the group Wiki: Icons > Dimensions.

The icon next to the title uses the Extra-large size.
If you're not tiling the area list, the area list uses the Normal size.

If you ARE tiling the area list (probably recommended if you are only doing this in one area), then the size is controlled by the Style Properties under the group Wiki: Tiles.

On Tile view I need to set a considerable difference between tile width and icon size. Currently I have used:
      tile width: 280px
      icon size: 180px
This creates a lot of unwanted whitespace around the icon. The wide whitespace with dark border also makes it look like an Obituary when it comes to People. But if I reduce the difference, then the image will be cropped weirdly. This seems to be a bug, but I'm not sure.

I would like smaller tiles than this, but keep the icon at 180px.

      Also see:
      https://www.vaultwiki.org/issues/6488/

Also: is there a way to display the icon large on the article page?

This "cropping" behavior is not supposed to happen. The tile is basically intended to be set to the same size as the image, but it looks like the text is covering it with a white background. The text is supposed to have a semi-transparent background so you can still see the bottom of the image. From my own tests, it looks like XenForo is not processing the style property used and instead defaulting the value to white. This will need some research.

If possible, I'd like the tiles to look more like XenForo. For example like the tiles on the Journals section on my site or XFMG or Like the small tiles of XF Article Thread Types.

Scroll down this page to the small tiles to see Article Thread Type tiles:
      https://xenforo.com/community/forums/have-you-seen/
Style properties control display of snippet and other elements.

      Is that possible?

The goal is to have it look similar to your Journals section. In your Journals section, there is a gradient between the text and the image, which ensures the text can be read no matter what colors are in the image. VaultWiki has something similar to this; it is a semi-transparent mask behind the title. However, as mentioned in my previous post, for some reason XenForo isn't processing the mask correctly and it's defaulting to solid white, which is wrong. That's why everything looks cropped, because a solid white band is being placed over the bottom of the tiles.

As far as making the tiles look less "iconic" with more text info, that can certainly be done if we add a setting or two. Until then, it could be done with various template customizations. But I wouldn't recommend that as long as the masking is rendering as solid white.

My objective is to have a cover image for all wiki articles.
Display the wiki title and views. It would also be nice to be able to display the read time.

      The user's last read time should be available in {$content.readtime} so it can easily be added with a template edit and formatted to your liking. Similarly views is available in {$content.views}

I mean article read time (duration) '3 minutes read'. It displays how long it will take to read the article.

You can see it on the Articles & Journals tiles on my site.
