The last release was last year. It would be nice to get another maintenance release. Even if its just a few bug fixes.

Yeah we have been sitting on the next release for a while now. We were actually hoping to have another XenForo version first in order to ensure compatibility, but that hasn't happened as soon as we thought it might. I will see if we can get what we have packaged maybe this week.

As an update, improvements we made to memory management for 4.1.7 failed QA (introducing showstopper issues) and had to be rolled back. So the package is unlikely to release before Monday.
With newer versions of PHP, the memory management changes are moot anyway; they were only needed in certain PHP versions where PHP's garbage collector was bugged. I believe I read that if you are running PHP 8.1.10 or newer, memory usage should automatically account for most of the changes we originally planned. For earlier versions, we may implement an alternate solution in a future release now that more information is known about the underlying PHP bug.
For reference, PHP garbage collector not running after script exceeds a certain number of objects: https://github.com/php/php-src/issues/9239
Supposedly fixed in 8.1.10, per changelogs.
