Why is there a difference between source and edit (bbcode editor)?

We are using beyondCompare to check if everything is imported well from VW3. However, it turns out that when using the 'view source' page this gives different results than going to edit and using the bbcode editor.
view source is close to how the code looks in VW3, while its different on edit page.

Why is this? Is this a bug?

View Source is the current raw source of the page.

If you go to the editor, you load that raw source into XenForo's RTE which parses it somewhat. When you switch to non-RTE, it attempts to unparse the contents that were parsed. In sum, this is a lossy conversion. This is the way XenForo works.

In vBulletin, you would see a similar difference between the View Source tab vs opening the editor in WYSIWYG mode, then switching to BB-Code mode, for the same reason.
