I have this in my PMs, all from April 3, 2014:

That is not the same page though. And I have no problems getting the A-B etc pages to load. It is just that one page. If I could just change that URL from showwiki.php?title=IDwiki-Main to showwiki.php?title=IDwiki-Main&do=list I wouldn't be having any issues at all.
Every area page, whether it is A-B, C-D, or IDWiki-Main, uses this setting for the limit. The fix for your issue is to lower the setting to a more reasonable value, like 200, or make it match the other setting I mentioned to make it behave like it's part of ?do=list.
Even if you change the URL in the breadcrumbs without choosing a lower setting value, the area will still exist and have the problem if someone visits its main tab. With the current settings, if anyone wants to launch a denial of service attack against your site, they probably need less than 100 bots to visit that area's main tab in order to bring your web site offline.
Will we ever get back the ability to columnize those pages?
