Can't use created template. How to create new templates?

      Hello.

I am working with a given project, which is... Strange. There is a lot of content already on the wiki, but each usage of template ends with red link redirecting to "create a page". I suppose that I can't use it all properly, or someone done something bad.

If polish language is not terryfing, please check this page. http://gadia.pl/wiki/Altaron/Kryszta%C5%82-G%C3%B3rski
I created content under that red link, and I think about recreating whole wiki using regexp in database, and then recreate again templates.

And there is one more question, where can I find good tutorial about Your work which is VaultWiki, mostly I get wikias about Fallout series (heh), but I need to learn and practice it for my actual and probably future job.

      Sincerely,
      D.

Your wiki uses - as a space character. Your template usages are trying to use _ as a space character. You can either change what your wiki uses as a space character or update your template usages.

Changing the space character will probably break external links and maybe other usages that already use the - character. You would know which change will be less work.

You may also want to review known security issues for your version to make sure your wiki is patched correctly: https://www.vaultwiki.org/pages/Book...:4-0-0-Gamma-5

There have also been several hundred regular bug fixes since your version. Some of these affected how templates work.

      Hello.

Thank You for Your answer, again, and sorry for one unnecessary PM.

Yet there is still the second question, where I can find any tutorials, documentation with syntax, step by step patching (or anything about proper patching)? I'm sorry for my lack of knowledge, but I'd like to find a place to learn those things.

Typing anything with "vault" will find a Fallout forums. :)

      Still, thank You.

Your wiki's syntax documentation is on the Special:WikiCodeList page in your wiki. This is the one for our site's wiki: https://www.vaultwiki.org/pages/special:wikicodelist

Otherwise our manual is found on the Manual tab on our site. If you are looking for something in particular, you can try typing a few words in the sidebar search in the manual to see if any topics come up.

If you have a question that is not answered by the manual, please let me know your question and that you didn't see it in the manual so that we can create an entry for it.

Thank You very much for Your help!

I will try to upgrade, check everything, and I will write then how it is going.

Actually [template] templatename [/template] syntax is not working, only {{ templatename }}, and this type is pasting everything from page of template, to using page (including all [noinclude] [includeonly] also).

I have one more lightly connected question. If I use VaultWiki, do I have another database for content of wiki, or it is somehow merged with database for vBulletin? This wiki which I am working on has its content exactly the same, as posts on vBulletin forum. I have access to forum database, but that's all. Editing post on forum, is not changing posts on wiki (and vice versa), so there should be some sort database for wiki obviously. Am I right and should ask for acces to base, or messed up things?

Your TEMPLATE tag is probably named something else, since your site is not in English.

Check the wiki settings group "Wiki Links" for "Template Inclusion Tag" for the correct tag to use.

I'm not sure if you're the original person who installed VaultWiki on your site. If not, your predecessor should have been given a list of cleanup tasks and other changes that needed to be made because the wiki started on another software and was copied to VaultWiki. At a quick glance, it looks like a lot of this wasn't done.

I don't know if there is a bug in the template syntax without having more direct access to your wiki and a template use that you think is wrong. But there have been a lot of fixes since your version, so the first thing you should try is updating your version.

VaultWiki uses the same database for its content that the forum uses, but it keeps things in separate tables within that database. If you have a forum post with content similar to the wiki, it is not the same thing as the actual wiki post. It just sounds like someone made two different posts.

I am not "the installer" and now I am waiting for update being done. Thanks for claryfing.

About the databases, I typed phrase into search, but found only raw text from forum, not Wiki.

I created post in Wiki, went to phpMyAdmin, typed search, checked each table, pasted phrase, "search for whole phrase":

Not a single hit in whole database only in "vb_vw_revision", and somehow coded. And found "12 hits" for that phrase. I know this is probably something like for revision in TortoiseSVN, but where normal posts gone then? I am really sorry, because it is probably easy and I am wasting Your and my time for it, but I haven't got any other help than here.

Searching for: "{{{parameter1|default}}} " which is in many of actually bad coded templates gives 0 hits everywhere. Strange stuff...

You will not be able to find wiki text by searching the database table vw_revision directly like that. The data in vw_revision is compressed.

You will have better luck using your forum search and searching for "parameter1" wiki pages, because the search index is not compressed.

So I have last question, and then I will wait for update by guy over me.

If I backup this shown on screen full database, would it be enough as preparing before update (in case if something would go wrong)?

Yes, if you backup that full database, that is enough.
