      Can VaultWiki Integrate CKEditor 4+ into vB4.4

      We have had a recent upsurge of new users who routinely cut and paste or drag/drop images. They really cannot seem to understand attachments and even have difficulty with the relatively easy image upload button that has replaced the IMG bbCode tool on our site.

      We seem to have CKEditor 3.6.2 installed and it may be possible to upgrade its cut/paste or drag/drop handling but I am not sure. I think you must be using the same facility here. vBulletin says they will not update CKEditor and have not interest in doing anything about drag/drop problems in 4.2.2.

      If VaultWiki supported a more current version of CKEdit and included the simple file upload to attachment via cut and paste, I would be very very happy. Is there any way that could be done?

      I put the editor in WYSIWYG mode and dropped a picture here. It it made a mess with a base64 blob, I will delete it.
      ------------> later
      I see you are avoiding the base64 behavior and this solution may be acceptable but I would rather it were converted automatically to an attachment with a thumbnail.

      We can try to add drag & drop support to VaultWiki in a future release, but I'm not too sure about updating the actual version of CKEditor that vBulletin uses.

      Firstly, my understanding is that there is a hefty licensing fee to redistribute that editor.

      Secondly, we might only be able to update it by 1 or 2 minor versions before vBulletin starts breaking. We ran into a similar problem when we updated the version of jQuery that vBulletin's mobile style uses. If this is the case, then the cost will probably outweigh any benefit of doing so.

      I suppose vBulletin could have a commercial restriction on their additions to CKEdit, but the editor itself is licensed under GPL at no cost. There may be a commercial redistribution restriction.

      How about your drag/drop handling? On my site the same action results in a temporary view of the image that becomes a base64 unresolved image after parsing, I think. In any case if you edit a post with such an image you see the base64 but do not see the image otherwise.

      I am experimenting with the ImagePaste plugin at the moment and will report the results.
