Its good to see the quality of VW4 increasing with maintenance releases. In regards to SEO: I don't think the number of comments is a good parameter for crawling or not. For that you need to know the status of the article: the amount of content and its quality. An article rating function is planned anyway, so please consider to tie that together with SE crawling.
