Question Allow areas with different scopes to have same names

I just recently purchased VaultWiki for my XF forum. I'm loving things so far, although I just started setting up the structure not long ago. So I haven't really got that far with it, and haven't really dug all that deep.

However, I have ran into a road block while setting up the general structure of my wiki. I'm not able to create 2 areas that have the same name, even if the two areas are in their own differently name areas. I don't see why two areas can't have the same names if they're not within the same scope.

Is this something that can be changed? It's pretty vital for our proper wiki setup. As we're designing the wiki around our open source mmorpg server emulator. Meaning the structure of the wiki should be very similar to that of the source code of our project. This isn't really possible atm though.

Page names, including Area names, aren't scoped based on their parent containers. Wiki links (among other features) use reverse look-ups based on page name, without requiring the user to know the page's parents. Routed content is scoped only by Prefix (which an area name doesn't have).

You cannot have routed content (pages, areas, etc) that share the same name, regardless of scope, due to support for reverse look-ups.

To work-around this issue, you can force the scope on your area names like Fish > Red Fish, rather than Fish > Red. Another popular option is suffixing, e.g. two pages Terms > Area and Terms > Area might be better as Terms > Area (VW) and Terms > Area (Geometry).

You can get around the limitation at the page level by saving the page as Anonymous or Island type. This excludes the pages from reverse lookups and keeps the names free, but this means they can only be accessed by knowing the full URL, and this doesn't apply to Areas.
