In vbseo_sitemap/addons/vw_sm_shim.php, find:
[code]vbseo_add_url($url, $priority, $lastupdate, $freq);
Replace with:

vbseo_add_url('<![CDATA[' . $url . ']]>', $priority, $lastupdate, $freq);

Then rebuild your sitemap via AdminCP.

I'm not sure why vBSEO Sitemap Generator doesn't escape all URLs automatically, but I'm pretty sure that's the issue here, as you can get malformed XML files without it.

WHenever i try to install the product i get

You can modify the dependency by editing the XML file. Set it to 4.0.0 Alpha 1. I will try to upload an updated ZIP in a few minutes.

This is an add-on specifically for the vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator. If DBSEO has its own sitemap generator, it would not have any effect.

This is not a suggestion. It's an actual mod that you can download from this thread. Even though vBSEO is dead, my understanding is that the existing sitemap builder that was created by the same people still works, can still be downloaded from vbulletin.org, and plenty of sites still use it (including this site).
