vBulletin 5 connect production version: Roughly when will vaultwiki be compatible?

I'm currently using vBulletin 4.2.0 PL3, considering adding a wiki to our site. I have vB5 Connect beta and will probably upgrade when it goes alpha and they've added back the calendar plus whatever feature they need to add to stream the present CMS content; we use the CMS in vB4.

My question is, is it likely that Vaultwiki for vBulletin will be updated so that it can be used with vBulletin 5 Connect soon after vBulletin 5 connect is suitable for a production site?

vBulletin 5 support is on our to-do list. However, we will probably not have any news regarding this until vBulletin 5 is gold and considered by customers to be suitable for production.

If you use the calendar and the CMS then you will need to wait at least until vb5.1 and possibly until 5.2 or 5.3 until those functions have come available. And that is really far away. Currently their focus is on getting the forum somewhat usable.

Since 5.1 is out now and it has CMS support finally, we can start working on that. Does anyone have any statistics on the adoption rate for the new release? I know DigitalPoint used to do this for older versions of vBulletin. I ask because typically vBulletin makes significant changes with minor point releases (you can see compatibility constants in VaultWiki 3 for 4.0.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, 4.0.3, 4.0.4, 4.0.8, 4.1.4, etc) and this means some VaultWiki code has to be different just for different point releases.

Almost no one actually uses vb5. Digitalpoint's cookie search engine shows that only 0.9% of all vbulletin boards have adopted vbulletin 5. If you click on 'show historical charts' then you can see the rate of adoption since August, which exposes an even more worrisome statistic: The adoption rate is only 0.09% per month or 1% a year. Which probably means that most people who try vb5 ditch it again.

It's pretty clear that vB Solutions / Internet Brands has realized this as well, as they have pulled off most developers from the vbulletin 5 project. Currently there are only 2 developers working on vb5 and it does not seem that they are working on it full time. I have understood that various developers have been reassigned to other IB projects. Not vbulletin anymore.
There is also no one working on vbulletin 4 anymore and its not clear if there is going to be another vb4 release ever again. Nobody knows. I would not be surprised if we will see vb3.9 as thats the only thing that IB benefits from.

Thanks for that information. We will continue to watch these trends, but if it continues, vBulletin 5 support will remain a lower priority than Invision support which we would be introducing during Gamma.

At the rate that vbulletin 5 is going now, its certainly more useful to focus on other platforms.
If the current trends continue, XenForo will have a larger marketshare than vbulletin in little more than 1.5 years. I would expect however, that there will be a tipping point where large numbers of vbulletin admins wil cross over, because vbulletin has no future and security issues and insecurity will drive admins away from vbulletin. I would not be surprised if XenForo's marketshare will match vbulletins in less than 1.5 year. XenForo is where the money is.

As Vaultwiki 4 has been delayed quite a bit rivaling commercial addons have been released. Its very important that VW will be the superior product in regards to stability, release frequency and functionality.
