Link to H2 heading

My users were linking to the headings within an article and tell me the feature is missing from the new version of Vault wiki. I know how to form the link and have told them how to do that, but I don't recall the link feature from the previous version. Did the external linking behavior to headlines change?

Since you jumped well over 20 versions in your upgrade, I really don't know at this time. It's possible the headline-link feature is new since then. It's working fine for me here.

I did not know there was such a formal feature. We have been "stealing" the links from the TOC. Is there a bb code or syntax for the wiki code that provides this linking in a safe way? i.e. that does not break if the substitution character is changed.

I just spent half an hour trying to find a use of the H2 headline on this site. The wiki articles seem to have an entirely different structure with very short pages and only a book like TOC connecting them. What am I missing? Are there any long articles with headlines here?

OK, I found headlines in the wiki code list article. It appears that it is unchanged with hash mark used to separate the section name from the title. I will explore this further with the user having the problem.
