We developed a dozen or so templates with a pattern stored in Dragon Bytes Post Template hook. The hook just inserts boilerplate from a drop down list. We code the boilerplate to hold VaultWiki template codes.
My authors find it very convenient because they can just replace the sample text in the Post Template with the variable contents they represent. I have a hard time getting them to manage namespaces otherwise.
Unfortunately, with our upgrade to 4.1.8 the Post Template hack no longer works and Dragon Byte has given up on fixing it in a reasonable time frame.
Maybe you could add the feature to the Vault Wiki Editor since you are a lot more proficient with the CKE editor by now. I would even try to do it myself, but it will take me a month or more to learn the editor internals.
All the creation and storage bits are working just fine, but the hack disables the editor in CMS and does not show up in any environment. i.e. the drop down list of available templates does not show up.
