You can now have your commercial addons in the xenforo Resource Manager.
The resource manager does not accept payment at this time, so you'd have to collect the money via your own paypal or at vaultwiki.org.

That is the preferred way anyway, so that users can download as soon as they buy (in most cases). An off-site purchase option would likely not be possible to automate, and a somewhat involved purchase verification process would be needed.
It seems to me that we are nearing a point where it is vital to get user feedback on VB4 Alpha, because the latest (very useful) video displays very concrete design & functionality. User feedback will undoubtedly result in the request or even the need for alterations.
Case in point: https://www.vaultwiki.org/issues/2708/
Will we be seeing a public alpha in the near future?
There will be a public Alpha before we finalize things. Unfortunately, as I have mentioned before, since VaultWiki 4 is a rewrite from the ground up, nearly all the changes have to be rolled out in one release. While we can show them off piecemeal in videos, what we aren't showing in videos is stuff that just plain doesn't work yet. If we were to release an alpha in that state, there would be more attention to the stuff that isn't working at all than the new stuff we actually wanted feedback on.
Hence the videos. We want to show that we are making progress towards the final product, but also give an early opportunity to provide feedback on various things before we hit you with everything all at once.
Yes, the videos are good.
But there is an alternate way to get feedback, while the product is partly functional: form an alpha group of power-user customers, and give them sprints with very specific assignments to only review specific features.
We will be having a private-server alpha (our servers for at least the first round), and sprints will start around June 1. I have not yet made an announcement regarding this but maybe I should have. We will be inviting certain users (or they can apply) via PM.
Pleae consider my previous PM or this thread as my application. :)
I read on some other site that a number of people still think VaultWiki 4 is delayed until now because of vBulletin's new ckEditor. I had mentioned that as a major delay for us last April. vBulletin released their editor in June of last year, and it was stable enough that August to begin doing what we wanted with it.
But that span of 4 months gave us a lot of time to review what we'd done on VaultWiki 4, and we realized that significant portions of what we'd written up until that point could be better. And then we had this question - do we save these changes until an even more future VaultWiki 5, or do we delay again and work them in now? Ultimately we didn't want to hold off on them, because we always want VaultWiki to be the best that we can make it at the time. So we rewrote the abstraction for the entire user interface. And that took some time.
Since the Alpha launched earlier this month, we have been on a rather grueling schedule of fixing things and rolling new things into the Alpha. There was one change we wanted to make since last November, but didn't want to delay again because we knew it would take some time. I forget exactly what the reason was, something about the new creation tools maybe, but we had to take the Alpha offline and made those changes over a span of 5 days.
Granted, a lot of those 5 days was spent fixing data integrity issues upgrading from 3.0.19 to 4.0.0 Alpha 1. There's almost 40 steps in that one version increase, and these steps will recreate your entire wiki from scratch. There's a lot of openings for things to go wrong, and it seems like with every opportunity, things do go wrong. We can't release an upgrade script that does that.
Look at me rambling on. I should get back to rolling out these last few features.
Just do things that need to be done. :)
I'd rather wait longer and have stable and great wiki than need to constantly report bugs found on my live site's wiki.
While it not great that development is taking so long i think we will be better off if the Wiki is stable. As for importing 3.x version in to 4.x that needs to be 100% if something goes wrong people can have lots of problems.
What are the ETA of VW 4 at the moment Pegasus, when can we expect a beta release so more people can test it.
We will be making an official announcement about that over the next several days.
Thanks for the update Pegasus.
waiting .....
nothing yet?
The Alpha Team, which is comprised of a small number of current customers, is still testing the new release. There is nothing new beyond that.
Pegasus, could you update us on the status of VW4 for XenForo, and VW4 for IPB?
We have begun internal tests of VaultWiki 4 against XenForo and IPB hosts and fixed a significant number of cross-platform issues in VaultWiki's Admin Panel. Preliminary results indicate that the install process is successful on these other platforms. We are currently building a VaultWiki4 -> VaultWiki4 import process so that we can test all platforms against the same data set, and begin public Alphas shortly thereafter.
Thats great news. Let me know when you need beta testing of the IP.B integration. I will be glad to help with that.
I can't wait for vaultwiki4 for 3.8!
Hi,
what is about VaultWiki 4 for vBulletin? Status ?
For vBulletin 4 is pretty much ready to go (just need to export it to ZIP AFAIK). We should be launching that in a few days.
For vBulletin 3, users will have to wait til next release.
For vBulletin 5, users will have to wait several releases.
For XenForo, pretty much ready to go, but there is still some error checking we need to do since XenForo has a higher error sensitivity than vBulletin. May launch same day as vBulletin 4, or a few days back.
For IPB, users will have to wait til next release. There was a significant new IPB version in the past quarter, so we still have to update some things.
Nice - go for zip ;-)
What will be new in version 4 ? Is there something here on the page i can read ?
Claw Snuff did a series of blog videos on VaultWiki 4. There's a lot more she hadn't covered, but sadly she has moved on to other endeavors. We are currently considering other people in our area to continue the work she was doing.
Anyway, here's some of her videos:
https://www.vaultwiki.org/blogs/50/
https://www.vaultwiki.org/blogs/51/
https://www.vaultwiki.org/blogs/52/
A little bit has changed since the videos. They were all posted before the Alpha started, and the team has been really great about suggesting how to improve some things. For example, there are more on-screen instructions and some terminology is changed.
We intend to update the main site to VaultWiki 4 today.
When Vaultwiki 4 is ready for public ?!
i have seen you have tried the last two days to upadte but now is again Vaultwiki 3? I am very interessted in a wiki for my site but only a small video is not enough for me to buy ..
Thank you :)
Our configuration is not really standard since we are trying to execute VaultWiki directly from SVN. This takes a bit of trial and error - we can't use the config we already made for our test builds since the paths have to make sense in the context of the live install. On top of that, there were still some problems with the upgrade script. To mention a few, that resulted in some revisions not being copied correctly, some permissions being missing, and some pages not having the right URLs.
I think we have resolved all these issues now, so we would be trying to upgrade again tomorrow. After the upgrade though, even if the wiki itself is copied fine, there are a lot of scripts we run that rely on wiki functions in order to work properly, like our shopping cart and our Members area. These need to quickly be updated and stress-tested. If this can't all be handled in less than a few hours time, it will be put off again and stretched out over several days.
thanks pegasus - when you think there will be vaultwiki 4 ready for public to see it and test it - because in you post it sounds that it will take much more days or weeks?
Do you have a list with features of the new vault wiki 4 ? maybe to compare with wiki 3 ?
There will be also a welcome discount for example for the new vaultwiki 4?
Thank you in advance
It will not be many more days to see it. Like I said, it was mainly flaws in the upgrade script (which have been fixed now), and us not using the right paths to the SVN (so we kept getting errors that files were missing). It sounds like a lot of work to update our custom plugins, but it's really not. They are localized in a small group of files that we have marked on a task list.
I haven't compiled a list of VaultWiki 4 vs VaultWiki 3 in one spot like a blog. I could try to do something like that today or tomorrow, for those of you who are curious.
Every time there is a new major version (as with 2 and 3 so far) we tend to increase the price after some weeks (the day will be announced ahead of time). Users who purchase before that day will pay the current price and they will get the same great software as users who purchase after that day and pay the increased price. After the price increases, there will also probably be a promotion or coupon to go with the release, but I'm not sure about that or what it would be.
We will not increase the price before users can buy it, and we won't have a 'pre-sale' for users unless they want to use VaultWiki 3 for a while.
