Is it possible to show thumbnails of attachments in the specialpage>file list like on wikipedia?

Not currently. Special:Filelist was based on an older version of Wikipedia that didn't have thumbnails at the time. The Image functionality is getting a refresh in version 4, so I'll keep this in mind.

This would be nice. When you have thousands of images uploaded by many different users, most with just letters and numbers in the file name, the list as it is is fairly useless.
