vB4.1.4 ? CKeditor WYSIWYG release - discussion

vB indicate that the 4.1.4 release will include CKeditor as the unified WYSIWYG editor (all edit use cases in the suite)
(4.1.3 is expected to be a bug fix release)

Have you had the opportunity to look at the alpha?

What can we expect in terms of editor integration?

The 4.1.4 alpha is not public and vB have not considered us worthy to be part of the Alpha team. So unfortunately there will be a delay with CKeditor support in VaultWiki once vB 4.1.4 is released.

We are running 4.1.3 quite happily.

CKeditor will be nice, I appreciate that it might take a while to catch up.

vB4.1.4 beta is up!

Looks like VaultWiki may have some conflicts with the new vB BB codes, esp. TABLE.

Can I suggest a conversion from VaultWiki TABLE -> VTABLE with a post table text upgrade as part of the next release.

Unfortunately they went with an implementation of table allows users to create invalid HTML which VaultWiki's doesn't (create a table/row with no cells). I don't really see a need to convert VaultWiki's TABLE code. The vBulletin TABLE code isn't new, it's just now possible to use outside the CMS.

Since you were already able to disable VaultWiki's TABLE code, it's still up to you which one you want to continue to use. VaultWiki's TABLE still offers more flexibility in the parameters than vB TABLE; vB TABLE markup more resembles HTML code. All we would have to do is get the VaultWiki code to work using the vB editor buttons, and that's something we'll have to fix for 3.0.12.

Of course, we will have to change VaultWiki's TABLE to be disabled by default for users who already use vBulletin 4.1.4 before they install VaultWiki.

A new version of 4.1.4 beta was released a few hours ago. We'll see if the editor is now possible to integrate (it wasn't flexible enough in beta 1).

4.1.4 Gold is out!!

Waiting not very patiently

CKeditor is not bad.

If its very difficult I'd be happy with a two stage approach.

1. VaultWiki works with 4.1.4 but locked to plain text edit mode

2. VaultWiki works with 4.1.4 with full CKeditor support

The problem is that the last beta was still very buggy for us when we tested with no plugins active. We will see if the "gold" release is any better, but the vB developers still haven't closed our ticket.

Here's a quote from our latest update to the ticket:

Updated test board to 4.1.4 (not beta) and the following issues persist:
- Ckeditor takes 20+ seconds to load (after successful response from ckeditor.php ajax call)
- switching to WYSIWYG fails sometimes and strips all new lines
