Category issues

When I add a page to a category using the category tags, the page never seems to get added to that category unless I visit the category from the page itself. Until I do this, the category doesn't ever seem to update. Is this the way this is supposed to work? I thought the category eventually updated itself with the page information but I've been watching and they're not updating on their own. Is there something I need to do to get them to update properly?

You should not need to do anything else. I've just tested adding a new page to a category and adding an existing page to a category, and it is working fine here (instantly)... Which variations are broken for you? What version of vBulletin are you using?

Thanks for the quick reply Pegasus. My board is running VB 4.1.1 and vaultwiki 3.0.10. Maybe I'm not doing something right or I'm trying to get more out of it than was intended. Here is what I'm doing. My wiki is a trails guide. Depending on what kind of trail it is, it might be in several categories - difficult - scenic - mountain bike trail, etc. I have gone through and added a bunch of categories to an article then I will go to the next article and add a bunch more categories to it. I don't visit the category until much later and I see that none of the trails or articles that I added are updated on the category page. If I visit the original article and click the category link from there it will then show up on the category. You can see how this is a problem. It would take me all day to update my categories this way. I can give you a log in if you would like to try this for yourself. I had to visit the category from its link in the article to get it to appear in the category.

Are you using a mod called DB-Tech User Tagging? That mod has historically had conflicts like erasing our categories from memory.

Any ideas on this yet? It has been a couple days and those categories still haven't updated themselves. Is there any kind of cache or something I can clear to get these things to update on their own?

Not sure what you did but the categories are now updating after the first visit to an article. Before, I had to click each category link within each article to get them to appear.

Strange. Does it now work when you add the category, without even reloading the page?

It doesn't seem to be. Refreshing the page doesn't seem to make a difference either. Only exiting that page and then coming back to it.

I just added the categories - easy - Day Hike - Family Friendly and All season to this page http://www.pwckitsap.org/forums/show...il&redirect=no

They haven't shown up yet in any of those category pages but if you visit the page first, it seems to update the categories. I'm stumped on this one.
