      Questions - vbwiki, mediawiki extensions

I presently have a site using vbwiki pro. At some point I will need to convert this to a forum/wiki system with support and upgrades.

I guess my first two questions are as follows:

      1) My site is using many mediawiki extensions - How would these be handled?

      2) One extension allows the use of HTML on a wiki page (if it is a protected page, and can only be edited by an Admin). Many pages have added slideshows, video, etc. by way of html using this extension. Is there any way to use this, or have something similar?

      1) MediaWiki has completely different source code from VaultWiki, so MediaWiki extensions would not work on VaultWiki. You would need to check vBulletin.org and see if a comparable plugin exists for vBulletin posts, or if you have some technical skills, you could port them yourself.

In the case where special markup was used originally, you can either do some coding to write some replacement logic into the MediaWiki->BB-Code parser, or you would have to update usage manually by editing wiki pages - e.g. replacing each instance of [[Media:movie.mp4]] with vBulletin's [video] tag.

      2) There are two ways to do this:
      • Create a wiki sub-forum that allows HTML and only admins can post/edit, and comments are disabled. This would require all of your HTML pages to be created in this sub-forum.
      • OR, if you don't want to be locked into certain sub-forums or have too many articles to sort into sub-forums, you would be able to do this in combination with another mod I know of called CES Parser Permissions. It has been integrated so that if the wiki forum allows HTML, and admins can use HTML, and an admin started the page, then HTML can be used in the page and only users with HTML permissions can edit it (you can also add Protection separately so only admins can edit).
