      Google Analytics takes forever to load

      Since installing VW on my high traffic site(about 4.000 concurrent users), Google Analytics is taking forever to load. I have been reading up on things that cause Google Analytics to slow down and one of the possible causes is if other scripts load after Analytics. My GA code is in my footer.

      Can the VW be conflicting with analytics or causing it to slow down?

      I highly doubt it. Also, all scripts should ideally be in the footer anyway. vBulletin defers most of its Javascript to initialize after the footer is loaded. If you weren't having issues before, I highly doubt this is the cause.

      I have noticed issues with loading Google Analytics in the past, but it seemed just to be a connectivity or traffic related issue (the issue eventually went away).

      If you're using the traditional (document.write) approach, try deferring Google Analytics and making it asyncronous:
      Code:
      <script type="text/javascript">
      <!--
      var _gaq = _gaq || [];
      _gaq.push(
      ['_setDomainName', 'www.domain.com'],
      ['_setAccount', 'UA-XXXXXX-X'],
      ['_trackPageview']
      );
      (function() {
      var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
      ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
      var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
      })();
      //-->
      </script>

      That resolves the issue with GA not loading, but my server is still reacting much slower than normal and my users are complaining. I will look into it further, but fear this may be related to VW. Any ideas what performance improvements can be applied to VW, without deactivating autolinks?

      Hi, if you install this mod, you can turn debug mode on for admins only and then if you visit the ?explain=1 for any page you should be able to narrow down the page generation increase to the time between two queries.
