No notification on edits of Watched articles?

What does the 'Watch' function do? I am not receiving notifications of new edits of watched articles. Is this normal?

Notifications are not sent out for your own edits, and only sent for individual pages if you have an instant-email subscription. If you are subscribed via the UserCP, I don't think you would see anything different than being subscribed to a normal thread. If you are subscribed weekly or daily, then you would receive a digest periodically that summarizes new edits in a number of subscribed areas.

If you are subscribed to an article and someone else edits it, then should you receive a subscription alert in notifications drop down and a listing in /subscription.php ?

No this doesn't happen currently. The only thing that happens is emails are sent, and that's only if you chose an email subscription.

According to my members, Users will expect to receive on site notifications of edits when they 'watch' an article.

Feature request posted in the tracker.
