VaultWiki - vBSEO Sitemap Integration (VW3)

Posted an update for VaultWiki 3 today. Also fixed a bug where image pages were indexed.

3.0.0 Gold compatible version released. If you upgrade to VaultWiki 3.0.0 gold, you'll need to update or your sitemaps will break.

Why do you say that? Did you get an error message? I have it installed here with 3.0 and the sitemaps are coming out fine as far as I can tell and Google's not complaining.

Will this still work with the most current vBSEO? I was debating purchasing it but I do not want to disrupt the forums on our site.

I haven't noticed any issues using the most recent vBulletin, vBSEO, VaultWiki, and this mod on my own. If indeed you notice something, I will do my best to fix it ASAP.

How does the sitemap generator work? I've had it installed for a little more than a year. When I look at sitemap_addon_1.xml, most of the entries show a change frequency of yearly. This is true for a lot of the stuff I created last year. Recently I have renewed my interest in my wiki and I have updated most of the pages and have loaded some new wiki pages. The new pages show an update frequency of daily, I guess because i just created them. If I google some old pages that I changed a couple months ago, I can see in the google result, information I added last year (for example, the beginning of a google result is April 1 2011 but I changed the page March 2012). So I guess my question is, is there a way to increase the frequency the sitemap generator updates the wiki entries? I can see google results from other pages on my site and I can see they have been updated, and those changes were made just a couple weeks ago. The change frequency in the sitemap generator also reflects that changes were recently made.

Am I missing a setting somewhere that will change the update frequency, or how the sitemap generator detects wiki changes, or am I misunderstanding how the sitemap generator works and how Google treats updates in general?

Maybe my confusion is due to the fact that in VBSEO sitemap settings, there are page update frequency settings for different parts of the site, such as - Page Update Frequency - Forum Display will give you options of always, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, etc. I don't see a setting for wiki entries or for generic sitemap addons. Perhaps this is a shortcoming of the vbseo sitemap generator?

Don't want to take you away from working on VW4 for too long but any help or tips you can give me to have my wiki sitemaps updated more frequently - at least while I am still building the wiki - would be appreciated.

If I understand the Page Update Frequency correctly, it should be using the same frequency you have set for forum threads. However, it looks like if you have "Smart" frequency turned on, that there is a bug where it doesn't factor page edits into the calculation.

Fixed and updated ZIP, version 1.0.6. You can resubmit your sitemap to Google to fix the year-frequency. I think the frequency is about Google's crawl rate, so the next sitemap submission should do it.
