      Does Vaultwiki have Infobox functionality?

Most wikipedia articles have a Infobox that list important facts about the article subject. Its a major mediawiki feature. Does Vaultwiki have this?

If yes, is it possible to use standarized Infoboxes?

For example. The infobox on the wikipedia article about Boeing 747 lists:
      - Role
      - National origin
      - Manufacturer
      - First flight
      - etc

The same facts and statistics are listed in all wikis about Airplanes. So the infobox is the same.
How does this work in Vaultwiki?

To clarify, "Infobox" is not a built-in feature of MediaWiki out-of-box. The Infoboxes you see there are custom-coded templates that many other sites have used "view source" (as I have done on one of my sites) in order to adopt. So yes, you can have Infoboxes in VaultWiki because it supports Template functionality. However, like a new MediaWiki installation, you have to add the empty Infoboxes to VaultWiki yourself.

That seems pretty hard to use for users. Or am I incorrect when thinking that?
Do you have examples of this template code?
Could you link to Vaultwiki articles with an infobox?

It's not hard to use for users. But because an Infobox is usually designed for a very specific kind of page, they can't be preinstalled. So, you just need to create the Infobox templates for your users to use. The users would just call the appropriate Infobox using the TEMPLATE BB-Code.

An Infobox is just a template containing a floated table. While we don't have any templates here labeled "Infobox", you can easily try creating one in our Demo templates forum to use in the Demo area.

Again, this is how Infoboxes work in MediaWiki.

Thanks for the explanation. Is there any way you can think of, that would allow users to type data directly into the infobox?

I think that unless at some point a WYSIWYG template caller is implemented, the closest to "typing directly into the Infobox" is in the template call. E.g.
      Code:
      [template]Infobox aircraft
      | Name = Boeing 747
      | Role = User input
      | National origin = User input
      | Manufacturer = User input
      | First flight = User input
      [/template]

If you want a hand in developing your infoboxes, let me know, I've got several I use on my wiki. Once I've finished sorting my styles out, I'll link them in you.

Could you please consider to add insert infobox functionality 'out of the box' ?
What would be needed is to allow the admin to set a number of infoboxes per wiki category/forum, that users can easily select to insert an infobox when editing a wiki. A button in the editor would work well for this.

An infobox is a table built from the following elements:

      title (same as article title)
      imagefield
      image caption
      sections (admin set)
      fieldnames (admin set)
      fieldparameters
