You should be able to use Inline Moderation or Thread Tools to move the post to a new thread. In both of these forms, you should also be able to move it to your wiki forum if it's not already in there.

The issue with that is that it moves the post. The goal is to have whoever is writing that post in whatever forum, if they want to make it also into a wiki article to have the ability to do so. In that case moderators don't have to go behind and re post in their name, and the wiki grows with the site without missing posts. I think that would make a great tool.

Thanks. The issue is however we don't want to move the post from its thread. We just want the poster to have the option to make this particular post a wiki article without having to go elsewhere or have moderators go back and post in other peoples names.

Mods don't have to post in other peoples names, just go to thread tools and select copy thread and select your wiki forum, it will copy the entire thread as a wiki post along with the posters name and all the replies stored as comments. I just tested this on mine and it works fine.

I see what you mean about having it as an option for users to create a wiki post from their own forum post though. This would be good.

interesting thought. Doesn't that make the first post the article, and the rest the discussion?

This is true. However the problem with making posts in the middle of a thread into an article is that it eliminates one of the purposes of a wiki - to make your important content easier to find.

Use inline moderation to split the thread so the "article" is the first post. I'm sure if the user had intended to create a wiki article, they would have done so in your wiki and posted the link.

I wouldn't want or do that, the wiki needs to maintain its integrity with NO bbcode used in wikis and proper sentencing, my members post using all kinds of code, images, color galore, our own hosted video and outside videos, it would drive me crazy if I saw that crap in the wiki... I'd spend more time cleaning it up after it got wikied than anything. The forum is one thing but I will not allow the wiki to be abused like that.
