      Categories .. don't know if they are working

      Hello,
      I must say that I am very very confused with the product.
      The manual should contain also images, in order to be understood also by those persons that are not English like me.

      I installed the premium version, I activated the Category plugins, but when I write the bb code for categories in an article this does not seem to work properly.
      I was unable to understand if I should add some namespace in the Namespace Manager in order to have categories working.
      Example: http://www.investireoggi.it/forum/fi...ng?redirect=no

      Pegasus, you should keep more attention to the manual, and also to the website; both of them are very difficult to understand for a non-english person. Really difficult. And I'm not a stupid, and I know quite well english .. but I'm getting lost and frustrated and this is not a good thing for a paid software.
      Also to get here starting from the home page of the site was impossible for me, I had to find the thread I started from my profile.
      A more user friendly manual would also bring less questions to you, letting you put your attentions to the improvement of the software.

      Thanks.

      Hi, I agree that the manual should contain more images. This is something we were putting off until we got rid of the light-on-dark style we had until last week.

      Yes, to get Categories working most users will need to add a namespace in the Namespace Manager, then put the ID number that was created in the mod's settings.

      Despite that many members have experienced the same confusions and frustrations as you, this is not something we are trying to inflict on anyone. We take all suggestions for improving the software and the web site seriously, but this can be very difficult for us when no possible solutions are also suggested. In attempting to improve things the way we think they can be, we might end up unintentionally making them worse for other users.

      In this way, we have strived to make the manual as user-friendly as we can. We have avoided discussing how some settings interact with the forum because in the past this just confused users even more. We have noticed that when there are so many features, it tends to be a lot for new users to take in, and it confuses and frustrates them.

      We have only really heard about one problem area in the manual and that is Namespace Manager. This section has been rewritten multiple times and still few users understand one of the most basic features.

      If there are any specific sections of the manual that you felt could be improved, please mention those and give us some suggestions. What is your understanding of what it says? What do you think it should actually say to be clearer?

      This is actually a re-design of the site that we finally made public just last week. We thought that having VaultWiki on its own tab would make it easier to focus the forum listings, and therefore easier for users to find what they are looking for. Perhaps it was difficult to find this particular forum because we recently changed it from "VaultWiki Usage Questions" to simply "VaultWiki Questions". If this was the source of confusion for you I think it just comes down to a matter of time for users to get used to the new forum names.

      Like I asked about the manual, what would make the new design work better for you?

      Please also note that /home.php no longer exists (it now redirects to a generic page), so you will probably want to update your bookmarks to /vaultwiki/

      It was a good thing to change the style.

      I was sure that you don't want to inflict confusion to anyone, that's why I gave you my opinion; it was just my way to give a little feedback in order to improve even further.
      I will try to understand how things could be improved.

      In the meanwhile .. categories are giving me some problems.
      After activating them I find here http://www.investireoggi.it/forum/fi...ories+testing?
      Code:
      <div class="bodyContent">

      			<div class="contentSub"></div>

      			<!-- message -->
      			[B]<div id="post_message_987334">Trying to understand how categ should work.<br /><br /></div>[/B]
      			<!-- / message -->
      I don't know why .. but not Vault inserts the code <div id="post_message_xxxxx">.

      I disabled Categories plugin .. but the problem remains (so probably categories are not guilty).
      I was able to make the test stay normal only by creating H1 H2 H3 like here
      http://www.investireoggi.it/forum/fi...or+categories?

      Tomorrow i'll see it with my programmer, but if you have some idea I'll be glad to listen to you.

      Please reactivate Categories if it is still disabled so I can see the effect.

      The Categories code is added to $post[bottom_of_article], which is more near the end of that template.

      Please check AdminCP -> vBulletin Options -> vBulletin Options -> VaultWiki: Namespace Settings -> Namespace ID of the Category Namespace? It can't be the same as any other settings on this list. Also make sure this is the correct # from the Namespace Manager.

      Ok, solved. We forgot to close a tag in the template.

      Now I'll have to understand how to deal with categories. In facts, I usually use prefixes as categories, and we are able to use prefixes also in Vault, as you can see here
      http://www.investireoggi.it/forum/ca...k-va44-15.html
      ("argomento" column here http://www.investireoggi.it/forum/fi...edia-vf44.html , look at the last thread ).

      So in facts I could use categories more like if they were tags.
