Angry I'm about ready to scream.... config and import issues

I have NuWiki 1.3 RC1 running on my site now. (http://www.controlbooth.com/forums/) The Nuwiki forum is setup like this
      • ControlBooth Wiki
        • Glossary <- my main wiki
        • Collaborative Articles <- the article wiki thing that nuwiki did

I just want to duplicate this... I have created a forum for each forum in the namespace manager, except Island... I know I don't need that... unless that would be for the collaborative articles???

I can't seem to get this to work properly.

I installed CES 2.1.3, and I am going absolutely bonkers trying to get this to work. I'm just lost at this point and I consider myself on the space between expert vB admin and vB programmer, which is just makes this that much more frustrating.

I'm not sure exactly what the issue is that you're having.

At this point you should have moved the Glossary and Collaborative Articles forums so that they are not child forums of ControlBooth Wiki, then created the Glossary and Collaborative Articles namespaces. Then, you should have returned to the forum manager to modify the corresponding forums to be Wiki type. Now you would use the Importer.

Article mode was not considered in the existing Importer (this will be fixed in the next build). You may have to manually adjust those forums and set them to Wiki because they may have been imported as Islands. After fixing this, you should rebuild their containing namespace.

Beyond that I don't know what the issue is that you're having. If it's not being able to select Article type, I never used this aspect of NuWiki so I'm not exactly sure how this is different from Wiki type. A detailed description could help me put together some directions for you about implementing similar functionality with VaultWiki's settings.

Okay, the install directions make it seem like you should create a new forum and then do the import. But I did what you said, pulled each of my existing forums out to the top level, set the Glossary as the default namespace and added the Collaborative Articles as a new namespace.

When I set them as a namespace, I selected the Glossary to be the top level forum and that they should display under a new forum named wiki (that doesn't seem to be working)

Then the size of the display squishes the rest of the forum to the right while the wiki displays full width. http://www.controlbooth.com/forums/index.php

Next BIG issue, is that the importer is locking up. I get a MySQL error when it tries to import the revision data:
      Code:
MySQL Error : Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet' bytes
      Error Number : 1153

Set the Display Order for the Glossary and Articles forums to 0. How many articles and revisions are you importing, and what has your host set for your "max_allowed_packet" size?

I had set the two forums to display of 0, and the layout was still out of whack.

Glossary has 452 articles - unknown # of revisions, Collaborative Articles has 48 articles and unknown # of revisions.

      Max allowed packet was 16M.

I changed the settings to 32M for the max allowed packets and still got the same error during import.

I got the forum display issue fixed, but I can't seem to get the wiki Table of Contents to display properly. I've attached a screenshot.

Also, do you have a copy of your special.css file, we have a similar theme!

screenshot here, it's showing like a regular forum instead of having a Table of Contents when you go into the forum:

Yes, you need to create a table of contents article for the forum in question. You can use the Forum Link function to forward to this article instead of showing the regular forum.

Thanks! I'll work on that! In the meantime, I've got a problem. When I click the discussion tab, the entire page freezes and the whole browser locks us. I've linked to a screenshot of what happens:

That code shows a table of contents of headings within an article.

You would have to manually add links to articles within the forum.

ouch! Is there any way to output the list of thread titles for a forum like NuWiki did automatically?

Not currently. That would have to be something we work on for the next build. Please post a feature request here so we don't forget to do it.
