      namespace display errors

      Morning,

I'm having an issue with namespaces not displaying in the navbar and other places, screenshot attached. Any idea why this is? I don't think it's a bug so have posted here instead.

I also seem to have a few other errors which I dont think are bugs so I'll post them here:

I set up a test account with a new usergroup with permissions to view/edit the wiki and special pages (what will become my editor usergroup), but the drop down nav menu has no contents:

As far as I can tell the settings for the usergroup and the forum permissions are all fine., images attached below:

      Usergroup settings:

      Forum permissions for usergroup:

I've also noticed that all page titles are prefixed by the namespace, they didn't used to be before I upgraded to 2.0.4 and I notice it doesn't happen on this site either, any idea how I can get rid of it?

I have also posted what I do think is a bug relating to section editing in the bugtracker.

I think you can just enter the names of those namespaces into "Constant Title Namespaces" in the wiki admincp and the namespace prefix will go away.

There's also "Display Title" under the forum editor, I'm not sure what the difference is but both seem to remove the namespace prefix so it looks less scary to new users.

Sorry I didn't make myself very clear, it wasn't the 'namespace' prefix in the forum list that I wanted to get rid of, it was the name of the namespace in front of every article title on the article page. I posted a screenshot of it.

      http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l.../namespace.jpg

In the screenshot it was The Wiki:Main Page ('The Wiki' being the namespace, 'Main Page' being the name of the article), I want it just to say 'Main Page'

When I enter something in the "Display title" in the admincp/Forum Manager the category listing where it says "namespace:" goes away.

If I enter the name of a namespace under "Constant Title Namespaces" the prefix in articles where it will say for example "Template:Article title" changes to just "Article title" so you get rid of the prefix.

Try in tour case to enter " The Wiki" under "Constant Title Namespaces" and the prefix should go away.

Okay, I must have renamed the wrong forum and deleted the one that was my main... doh. *blush*

That's fixed the name displaying in the navbar, but the dropdown is still empty for anyone who isn't a hard coded administrator with the settings I've posted above.

On my tests here the dropdown doesn't appear if it is empty.

On your site, how does the dropdown look as an administrator?

Okay I've figured it out, it's to do with primary and secondary usergroups.

Basically I set up a new usergroup based on my regular usergroup but with the wiki permissions applied, then added it to my user as a secondary usergroup. It didn't work and gave the errors with the navbar and also no matter what I did it wouldn't take special page permissions, it always said you don't have permission even though it was set to have permissions.

If I give my user this usergroup as it's primary group it all works fine. I suspect something somewhere is only checking primary usergroup and not checking for secondary memberships.

This also seems to be true of other things.

If I go to a wiki page that doesn't exist either by following a link or by modifying the url I get no edit tab if I have permissions set via a secondary usergroup, but I do get the edit tab if I change that secondary usergroup to be my primary.

Something isn't working quite right here.

I have not been able to reproduce any of what you have described in the last two posts. Please PM me regarding taking a closer look at your site.

The first problem with the navigation drop down does seem to be related to the primary / secondary usergroup issue as I said before, if I set the wiki editor group as the primary group it works fine, if it's set as a secondary group it doesn't work at all. The same is true for access to special pages. Works fine if the wiki editor group is the users primary group, doesn't work if its set as a secondary group.

However I think something is wrong with my permissions in general actually, if I go to a new article either by changing the url or by clicking on a link to a blank article I cannot edit it. But if I go to new thread in the article list creating new articles works fine, as does editing existing articles.

My main admin account works perfectly, but this is set to administrator with all permissions. This only occurs for my wiki editor usergroup which has all possible wiki permissions (that I'm aware of) set.

I can give you my test account for testing and set you up with an administrator account if you like?
