      questions before purchasing

Hi, I am really interested in switching from nuwiki to vaultwiki, but I do have lots of concerns, especially regarding the import feature. If I lose any of my current data, it will be disastrous.

In setting up nuwiki, I made lots of modifications to make it work the way I needed it to work. I don't see a very good demo here that answers all of my questions, so I am wondering if there is a money back guarantee if the vaultwiki does not do what I need it to do.

Thanks for doing this project, it is much needed as a replacement for nuwiki.

In theory, our NuWiki importer should work, provided you are running at least MySQL 5. If you have an earlier version, we would tailor the importer to meet your specific needs once you are a paying subscriber. This is generally our policy with most things.

That said, the import feature (from NuWiki) has only been tested on a small test database here, and I am not sure if any of our current customers have attempted to import from NuWiki themselves.

Regarding your second question about a money back guarantee. We have to follow suit with the general policy software, once "opened" cannot be returned for a refund. This is not so much a piracy issue as it is a support issue. We offer a very high standard of support here so once you download our software, our staff may put in a very large number of hours attempting to support your individual installation that would exceed the fee you have already paid.

Hypothetically, if at any point during a grace period you ask for you refund, we would have just given you an obscene amount of support for free, when we could have used that time and effort to improve the software itself. So our general policy is that sales are final.

That said, we are very open to new ideas for features, etc. Historically we have been quick about bug fixes. We try to be as expedient as possible with releasing new features, and have implemented (or are currently working on) about 95% (in my estimation) of our customers' suggestions. If you have questions about VaultWiki, please ask them before purchasing. If you need something VaultWiki doesn't yet offer, just ask and you may get what you're looking for.

Am I missing a Demo somewhere then? Frankly, I can figure most of this out myself and don't need an "obscene" amount of support but if I cant see what it does ahead of time, I don't know how I can know if I can customize it the way I want.

I have a HUGE amount of nuwiki articles so I'd be very dismayed to pay for this and then not have it import my current articles. And while I do have php 5 available, I dont believe I am using it as I ran into some problem or another that I can't currently remember. So that could be a problem too.

It works on the same principle as NuWiki, so you would not "lose" any articles. The worst that could happen is that your forum headers (if you even used this feature in NuWiki) may not link up properly when imported, but a patch can quickly be written for something like that to fix your installation.

As for a demo, we cannot give admin access for VaultWiki, but you should be able to edit one of our fake pages like Three Little Pigs to see how that works. If you are worried about being able to customize VaultWiki, there are over 50 templates and roughly 450 phrases currently that can be modified to suit your needs. For writing plugins, there are about 100 hook locations in VaultWiki itself.

If the customizations are features that you added to NuWiki yourself, mention what they are, because they may be in VaultWiki already by default. VaultWiki was originally a HEAVILY modded NuWiki before we decided to branch off into a separate product completely. Most NuWiki features were included for backwards-compatibility (with some BB-Code exceptions), although they have been completely rewritten.

I have sent you a private message with a link to my site in the hopes that you might take a quick look at it and let me know if you think I can successfully import it to vault wiki, thank you for your time.
