I'm sure this must be an option but I cant find it. At the moment the colour clashes with our fonts and makes them hard to read.

The border and background of .vw-inline-prefix are defined in the CSS template vw_base.css. You can override the definition yourself in vw_additional.css or you can try adjusting the vw_control* stylevars.
