Very newbie questions

I am still new using VW and wiki basic, i am sorry for very noob questions :D, i already read setup instruction but still dont understand some, i believe some other member have same questions :p



- What is Namespace actually? i still dont understand

- in admincp >> VaultWiki >>Namespace Manager >>
I already choose forum for Default
so for Special can be same forum like Default, or need to be diferent?

- what is Island?


- What is Group Start Pages?

- What is Book mean? like in demo too http://www.vaultwiki.org/pages/Special:Books


- I dont use autolink for forum post
should i set No in admincp >> VaultWiki: Server Settings >> Enable Link Caching?

I don't know how to explain namespace any better than what's in the manual. Namespace is a group of forums. Articles in the same group can't have the same name. Some namespaces like Book which you asked about do special things.

Namespaces can't have the same forums. Special is an exception because it doesn't use any forums and you can't create pages there. The forum you choose for Special is just used for the forum list.

When you make a new forum and choose it to be Island, articles in them can have whatever name you want. The URLs don't use the title, and you can only link to them using the full URL with the URL BB-Code.

Group start pages are for if you use social group pages, but I don't know if vBulletin 3.6 has social groups? Your social groups can have a home page ("start page").

Books are for groups of articles where the order of the articles matter. You create a book, and then you add articles to it in the order you want.

Link caching is not just for auto-links but regular links to. It keeps track of links to existing and non-existing articles so you can see things link together.

I just creating Category namespace today for the first time, its working

My question is, is it that namespace need a forum selected?, in admincp >> VaultWiki >> Namespace Manager >> Category >> Top-Level Forum

because i see the forum that i selected is still empty, even i already have some Categories, is it normal?

Here are my setting there, please let me know if there is anything incorrect or if there istutorial page for creating Category and other namespace

Prefix Namespace Title? : No
Allow article discussions? : Yes
Require Edit Reason for Wiki Articles? : No
Top-Level Forum : I use a forum, different forum from Default namespace forum
When choosing "Create New Forum" above, should a new Parent Forum be created first? : No
What special function will this namespace perform? : Category namespace

Automatically create links to relevant wiki pages? : Yes

This is normal. The Category forum won't have anything in it unless you edit the description of some of your Category pages. For this reason, it may be better to replace the forum view with Special:Categories
