Books
I bought the premium version of Vault Wiki specifically and 100% because of the ability to classify things as "books".
I am UNABLE to get the version I have to look even remotely close to the version used here on this site.
My issue is that the "book" does not resemble a book, but is just another forum listing like any other part of the wiki.
See the pics for a better meaning of what I am talking about :
I made a name space for books following the documentation and created this..

I then created a book, and made some chapters for a book. All well and good.
But to ME and MY thinking about a book I was expecting the chapters to be somehow contained within the main book article rather I get a NEW THREAD for each and every article/chapter.

Now this is odd and cumbersome. I do not want my users to see the chapters but rather only show BOOKS in the thread listings. And then what if 20 members all create articles labeled chapter two? what then?
I'm probably missing a step .. or am just unable to grasp the concept from the documentation.
Hell .. I don't know if I am even asking the question in a coherent manner.
Please explain why I am unable to get a BOOK to look like a BOOK or even to look like you have yours here.
Thanks.

OK a search ( something I should have done BEFORE I bought the wiki it seems ..) show me that other people have been asking this same question for months.

At least as recent as August it was addressed .
Even the work around Pegasus explains it far too cumbersome for a member base to do. I want books for each member and this work around is confusing as hell.

After creating the Book, there should be an "Add New Chapter" button on the page. Do you not see the button? Once you use it, the chapter should be added to a list on the Book page.
As for the Books forum, this is going to be a list of all books. We allowed chapters to be created in other sub-forums so that forum permissions could be inherited and you can list things like templates or image pages in a book.
If you don't want your users seeing the full list of books in the forum, you can look into Replacing the Forum View for your books forum so that you can have some sort of welcome page.
To achieve books for each member, where only that member can edit the book or its chapters:
- Create 1 sub-forum for all chapters.
- Set the forum permissions for the book forum so that members can't edit each others' threads and can't edit wiki pages.
- You now have a system where users can manage their own books, as long as they post the new chapters in the Chapters sub-forum...
- If you aren't replacing the forum view, create an announcement for the books forum explaining that users should select the Chapters sub-forum for new chapters if they don't want other users editing their book.
- If you are replacing the forum view, place a forum header or a vBulletin notice for the books forum that links to a thread that explains this.
In VaultWiki 4 we are trying to smooth out issues like this, so you can set a list of places that are allowed to contain chapters. That way your users can't put them in the wrong place. Until that version is done, though, documentation is the only way.
