some book questions
I am finally at the point of starting with books for wikipage indexes/collections.
but i am having some difficulties doing this the way i want/suspected it to be.
- Is the only way of adding a subchapter (i.e. 1.2) by creating a chapter 1 book first?
I kind of want my book forum to be clean and organised, not having "loose" chapters all over the place
- some of the intended book indexes will have a link to an anchor point on a page (in out opinion too small areas for creating a new page for itself but still are sub-chapters. for example: BRCS:Chapter_one_Character#Ability_scores )
but when entering the link with the anchor point it gives an error with a blank reason
-
- 1 must be created before 1.2. You can't parent a chapter to something that doesn't exist.
- Chapter headlines can't be linked in the main book TOC, but they will still be shown in the TOC once you get to that chapter.

ok i think i dont quite get it
link to my test book is http://www.birthright.net/forums/sho...gn_Setting_3_5
i can add chapters to the book.. but no drop down or something like that to parent it to a chapter..
if i look on the book examples in the demo they create a BOOK for every chapter, and link the chapter books in the Main book.. is this the way its supposed to be?
so for a book with 9 chapters you will have 10 BOOK pages? (instead of just 1 linking to the wikipages)
-
Yes, if you want a multi-level book, the chapters need to be books too (so for 9 chapters, there would be 10 books).

ok, is this going to change in VW4?
it would be cool to have BOOKS the same feature as the area manager showed in the admin demo

This is not going to change. Pages don't inherit properties from their parents. That said, it will be more straightforward to add a book to a book since the Create New menu lists: Page, Book, Attachment, etc.
