Time for VaultWiki?
Hi there, Pegasus,
I've been using a customized-version of NuWiki for some time. Now, my site has grown to support multiple, distinct, separate communities. Would VaultWiki enable me to create separate, self-contained Wikis that my different communities (sub-forums, within the same super-forum) could use in building collective knowledge? How would such a solution work?
Thanks!

VaultWiki was originally based on NuWiki, but has deviated and grown over the years. Note that VaultWiki 4 does not have a NuWiki importer, and a standard NuWiki importer would probably not work well anyway since you have been using a customized version. You will either need a custom importer built or you will have to manually move/re-create your content (not ideal since you would lose history data).
To do what you want in VaultWiki, you should follow these steps:
- Create distinct wiki-prefixes for each community so that you don't have titling conflicts across communities.
- Create distinct wiki-area trees for each community, with the area settings only allowing the appropriate prefixes created in step 1.
- If auto-links are desired, update your forum settings in each community so that autolinks are generated for the main wiki-prefix of that community.
- Use the wiki admin panel's integrations menu to insert your community wiki-areas into the appropriate community sub-forum.
Try a 1-month license to see if it works well for you.
