Some sites may already have a wiki with another product that they wish to import into VaultWiki. If VaultWiki doesn't have an automated importer for your particular product, you can copy and paste your existing articles in VaultWiki.

Note:If you have to perform a copy and paste import, you should help other future migrations by requesting an import script in the VaultWiki Requests area on the web site: http://www.vaultwiki.org/support/

    NuWiki

If you plan to transfer NuWiki data into VaultWiki, this is best done on a fresh install of VaultWiki. Perform the following steps.
    Prep
    If you use NuWiki books:
    1. In VaultWiki > Namespace Manager, create the Book namespace. See: Setting Up Books.

    If you use NuWiki Templates:
    1. Locate the forum where you have been saving them. If they are mixed in the same sub-forum as other wiki articles:
      1. Go to Forums & Moderators > Add New Forum. Choose the settings to your liking but make sure "NuWiki Mode for this Forum?" is set to "Wiki Mode".
      2. Using inline moderation, move your NuWiki templates to the new sub-forum so they are separate from regular articles.
    2. In VaultWiki > Namespace Manager, create the Template namespace. See: Setting Up Templates. For the "Top-Level Forum" setting, choose the same forum where your NuWiki templates are stored.

If you use NuWiki Forum Headers:
    1. In Settings > Options > [NuHiT] NuWiki Settings, check the value of "Forum Id where Forum Headers will be stored?"
    2. In Forums & Moderators > Forum Manager, locate the forum with that ID and keep it in mind.
    3. In VaultWiki > Namespace Manager, create the Header namespace. See: Setting Up Headers. For the namespace setting "Top-Level Forum", choose the same forum you discovered in the previous step.

Except for NuWiki islands and the forums mentioned above:
    1. Edit your other NuWiki forums such that they are sub-forums of the main NuWiki forum. To do this:
      1. Open Forums & Moderators > Forum Manager, and select "Edit" for one of your wiki forums.
      2. For "Parent Forum", change this to your main NuWiki forum or a sub-forum of it.
    2. In VaultWiki > Namespace Manager, edit the Default namespace and set the "Top-Level Forum" to your main NuWiki forum. If you are already using a different forum for your Default namespace:
      1. Open Forums & Moderators > Forum Manager. Locate the NuWiki forum in the list and select "Edit".
      2. For "Parent Forum", change this to the forum you set for the Default namespace.
    Import
    1. In your AdminCP, open VaultWiki > Wiki Importer.
    2. Where it asks to "select a product", choose "NuWiki".
    3. Click "Import" and continue through the wizard to the end.
    4. Open VaultWiki > Wiki Article Tools.
    5. Under "Convert Legacy Code to BB-Code", select to Convert from "NuWiki", and click "Convert Articles".
    6. Follow the instructions provided with NuWiki to uninstall it.

    MediaWiki

If you would like to transfer your MediaWiki data into VaultWiki, perform the following steps.
    Prep
    If you use MediaWiki Templates:
    1. In VaultWiki > Namespace Manager, create the Template namespace. See: Setting Up Templates.

    If you use MediaWiki Images:
    1. In VaultWiki > Namespace Manager, create the Image namespace. See: Setting Up Images.
    2. If your MediaWiki articles include images using the syntax [[Image:name]], ignore this step. If they use [[File:name]]:
      1. In your AdminCP, open Languages & Phrases > Search in Phrases.
      2. For "Search for Text," enter "mediawiki_image_name". For "Search in...", select "Phrase Variable Name Only". Click "Find".
      3. There should be 1 search result. Click "Edit".
      4. For each translation, enter "File" or the prefix you use for images. Click "Save".

    If you use MediaWiki Categories:
    1. In VaultWiki > Namespace Manager, create the Category namespace. See: Setting Up Categories.
    Import
    1. Locate the file vault/import/config/mediawiki.php.new and open it for editing.
    2. Make the appropriate changes to the file for your MediaWiki installation, and save.
    3. Rename the file to vault/import/config/mediawiki.php.
    4. In your AdminCP, open VaultWiki > Wiki Importer.
    5. Where it asks to "select a product", choose "MediaWiki", and click "Import".
    6. Proceed through the wizard to the end.
    7. In your AdminCP, open VaultWiki > Wiki Article Tools.
    8. Under "Convert Legacy Code to BB-Code", select to Convert from "MediaWiki", and click "Convert Articles".
    9. If you have a Main_Page article, in Settings > Options > VaultWiki: Server Settings, set "Replace Wiki Tab with URL" with the full URL to the newly imported article.
