VaultWiki Importer
This is an old revision of this page, as edited February 8, 2011, 5:28 PM by pegasus(contribs). It may differ significantly from the current revision.
Some sites may already have a wiki with another product that they wish to import into VaultWiki. If VaultWiki doesn't have an automated importer for your particular product, you can copy and paste your existing articles in VaultWiki.
Note: If you have to perform a copy and paste import, you should help other future migrations by requesting an import script in the VaultWiki Requests area on the web site: http://www.vaultwiki.org/support/
NuWiki
If you plan to transfer NuWiki data into VaultWiki, this is best done on a fresh install of VaultWiki. Perform the following steps.
PrepImport
- If you use NuWiki books, add at least 1 forum to the Book namespace.
- Set your Template namespace to the forum where NuWiki's templates are saved.
- Set your Header namespace to the forum where NuWiki's forum headers are saved.
- Except for NuWiki islands and the forums mentioned above, move your other NuWiki forums such that they are children of the Default namespace.
- In your AdminCP, open VaultWiki > Wiki Importer.
- Where it asks to "select a product", choose "NuWiki".
- Click "Import" and continue through the wizard to the end.
- Open VaultWiki > Wiki Article Tools.
- Under "Convert Legacy Code to BB-Code", select to Convert from "NuWiki", and click "Convert Articles".
- Follow the instructions provided with NuWiki to uninstall it.
MediaWiki
If you would like to transfer your MediaWiki data into VaultWiki, perform the following steps.
- Locate the file vault/import/config/mediawiki.php.new and open it for editing.
- Make the appropriate changes to the file for your MediaWiki installation, and save.
- Rename the file to vault/import/config/mediawiki.php.
- If your MediaWiki articles include images using the syntax [[Image:name]], proceed to step 5. If they use [[File:name]]:
- In your AdminCP, open Languages & Phrases > Search in Phrases.
- For "Search for Text," enter "mediawiki_image_name". For "Search in...", select "Phrase Variable Name Only". Click "Find".
- There should be 1 search result. Click "Edit".
- For each translation, enter "File" or the prefix you use for images. Click "Save".
- Proceed to the next step.
- In your AdminCP, open VaultWiki > Wiki Importer.
- Where it asks to "select a product", choose "MediaWiki", and click "Import".
- Proceed through the wizard to the end.
- In your AdminCP, open VaultWiki > Wiki Article Tools.
- Under "Convert Legacy Code to BB-Code", select to Convert from "MediaWiki", and click "Convert Articles".
