Before you can begin using VaultWiki, you will need to configure some of its options so that it knows how to integrate with your forum.
Setting Up the Wiki Area
Go to VaultWiki > Namespace Manager. In order to avoid confusion going forward, you can think of a Namespace as a group of forums that performs a specific wiki function. A Namespace is an abstract container that your wiki pages will be stored in. Namespaces contain at least 1 wiki forum and usually focus on a single topic.
Only the following namespaces require configuration at this time, if you want to use them:- Default - Contains the main content for your wiki (required)
The following namespaces have been pre-installed, and can be setup later using the same instructions, should you decide to use them:- Template - If you want to use Templates in your wiki (optional)
- Help - If you want to create a Help section for your site (optional)
- Header - If you want to use Forum Headers (optional)
- Book - If you want to use Books (optional)
- Category - If you want to organize your pages in Categories (optional)
- Image - If you want a central location for storing re-usable Images (optional)
To begin setting up a namespace, simply click the "Edit" button next to it.

At this time, all you need to do on this page is create forums for the wiki to use. The other settings in the Namespace Manager are discussed more here (Adding and Editing Namespaces).
To create a forum for the wiki to use, find the drop-down called "Top-Level forum". Select "Create New Forum".
Note: | If you are going to import from NuWiki, instead of "Create New Forum", you should try to select existing forums where possible for each of: Template, Header, and Default. |
If you already created a Parent Forum you want to use for all your wiki forums, continue. Otherwise, where it asks "When choosing 'Create New Forum' above, should a new Parent Forum be created first?", select "Yes".

Click "Save", and you will now see two more forms. The form called "Create Parent Forum" will be used to create the parent forum for the "Top-Level Forum" created below it.

Note: | You are creating new forums. Even though only a few are listed on this page, more settings are available in vBulletin's Forum Manager to tweak them further. |
Click "Save" and the namespace should be properly configured.
Setting Configuration
Visit Usergroups > Usergroup Permissions, and set wiki permissions for your users. More information can be found in the documentation for Usergroup Permissions.
Visit vBulletin Options > vBulletin Options (Settings > Options in vBulletin 4). Find "VaultWiki: Server Settings" and modify the values to your liking. For more information on each setting, see the documentation for VaultWiki: Server Settings. When you are satisfied with their values, click "Save".
If you made any changes to the default values, you may need to update your .htaccess files or other Mod Rewrite server configuration. This is discussed on the next page.
There are other new admin areas that can be customized, but this is the bare minimum needed to begin using your wiki.
