Upgrade on XF1 to Beta does not include vault install lib

Download beta 2 for XF1.

Upload to site.

Go to upgrade

The required directory /vault/install/lib/ could not be found. Please upload this directory to proceed.

vaultwiki_410b2b1_xf1 does not include a /vault folder.

Now I have no custom BB codes at all.

Stories are passed on by word of mouth and can change. Even yours. No historical record is ever absolutely accurate. Many of our Lore articles reflect this tone and that there are many perspectives. Right chmod() was disabled in PHP and caused issues. How can I re-run the install script to do it again without losing data?

To re-run the upgrade you would need to restore your pre-upgrade database backup. Since you had an issue with missing BB-Codes, I would advise you to use a ticket for the upgrade. I'm assuming it's a different server than your test site.

Submitting your copy of internal-data://vw_logs/upgrade to our email would also be useful:

I have emailed the log and sent you a ticket with access details.

Notifications were also broken until I disabled Vaultwiki again.

I can spin up another site from the snapshot from before the Xenforo upgrade process.

So what's the route to getting it working again?

Something like this:

Open up the disabled_functions in php (done it looks like just chmod from logs)
Uninstall VW completely
Reinstall VW fresh
Load the last backup into a new database in the sql server
User the VW import to draw in the old data

?

It looks like the fastest route to getting it working will be to simply copy the missing BB-Codes from a backup. And to use that comparison to determine what caused the BB-Codes to disappear in the first place. I successfully used Beta 2 to upgrade one of my sites from XF1 to XF2 and did not have a problem, but you are now the second person I know who had this occur.

According to the log file, I don't see any serious problems that would have resulted in other data loss. The log shows that the step intended to protect the BB-Codes from this problem did actually run, so it's not that some steps were skipped.

I believe the issue of the wrong path being used by XF1 is fixed in the next build. The default configuration file library/vw/config.php.xf had some code at the end that was setting the path to the 4.0.x location. By removing the offending code, the default location of library/vw should be used instead.

Marking this issue as fixed in the next build.
The issue with disappearing BB-Codes is now also fixed in the next build: https://www.vaultwiki.org/issues/5810/
