Automatically Award Reputation based upon article quality and completion
To motivate members to add wiki edits, it would be extremely useful if wiki contributors would be awarded reputation based upon the article completion level and the article quality rating.
Currently the absence of reputation functions in wiki is a big problem for wiki participation on my board. Members want to get recognition and reward for their contributions.
For this we would first need to have a new article rating, similar to wikipedia:
Article completion level:
Users should be able to vote on the article completion level. I suggest the following levels:
Short basic page
Moderately filled article
Substantial article
Substantial & useful article
Good & complete article
Great article
Expert article
The level could be calculated upon the average of votes in the last X days.
The admin should be able to attribute points to each level. For example:
Short basic page | 10 reputation points
Moderately filled article | 20 reputation points
Substantial article | 30 reputation points
Substantial & useful article | 40 reputation points
Good & complete article | 50 reputation points
Great article | 60 reputation points
Expert article | 70 reputation points
If the page is rated 'good complete article' attribute for example 50 reputation points.
If the page has 6 authors, divide the 50 points according to the % contributed.
Author 2 | 20% | 10 reputation points
Author 3 | 15% | 8 reputation points
Author 4 | 10% | 5 reputation points
Author 5 | 10% | 5 reputation points
Author 6 | 5% | 3 reputation points
The points are an example of the general gist.
Once the article evolves from Good to Great, the authors will have their points recalculated as there are more points to divide and possibly more authors to divide it between.
